I think that they do feel remorse for leaving their children alone, with just one of their party checking on them at intervals.

We all make mistakes but nothing so awful as that.

I've said it before and I'll say it again . . .

if a working class single mum had left her kids alone whilst she went out with her mates, public sympathy would have been much less in her favour.

But two nice middle class doctors couldn't possibly do anything wrong could they?

Leaving your children alone is a risky thing to do.  Its even more unforgiveable in their case as they have plenty of money and could easily have arranged for a babysitter.   h**l they could even have taken a relative or a nanny on holiday with them to take care of the children - its not like they couldn't afford it.  They were just being mean by trying to avoid paying out for childcare.

And frankly if it was me I'd have taken my kids to the Tapas Bar with me - even if they were asleep in their strollers.  At least they'd be safe and I could watch them.  So what if the parents had to go without a drink.  When you're a parent there are more important things.

Ben Needham and James Bulger are two very tragic reasons why you simply should not take your eyes off a young child for 5 minutes.

Sadly, Madeleine is unlikely ever to be found.

I'm surprised they weren't charged with child neglect. I doubt they will admit to doing anything wrong. They could have probably hired a childminder in the resort where they were staying that evening - but they were too cheap to do it. It's incredibly sad. :-/

Are you seriously trying to give an innocent child's kidnapper an excuse?No matter what circumstance a child is in it does not give anyone the right to abduct them.The responsibility is the kidnappers responsibility and there's alone.

The McCanns were responsible for stupidly thinking that their set up re baby watching was acceptable and quite frankly neither is baby listening services provided by resorts but the person responsible for what happened that night was ultimately the kidnapper as it is his/her actions not the McCanns which resulted in Madeleine's disappearance.Had he/she not acted that night there would be no child missing.

No, they know that they did a terrible thing by abandoning their children but rather than admit that, they prefer to blame anyone else but themselves.  They happily stood back and watched Robert Murat be torn to shreds by the media for what, trying to help them.  Shame.

all theyve done is blame the portugese police for failing to conduct the investigation competently

and given that the investigation involved contaminated evidence, failure to secure the crime scene, failure to conduct searches, and a policeman facing charges of beating a confession out of a woman, who could blame them?

You only have to look at their faces to see the arrogance that lies there. Have you not done something wrong and deny your involvement, Knowing it was you who was the cause but not having the strength to admit it. Well they have blocked out their part and choose to hang anybody that fits the bill.
