Do you think the Mets are going to retire Mike Piazza's #31 before the last game at Shea?

I know he's supposed to be at Shea on the last weekend of the year, and i havent heard anything about other past players coming those days, so I'm thinking maybe they'll be honoring him in some way. possibly even retiring his number (as they should!) It should definitely be done at shea and not citifield! Does anyone else think this is the reason he'll be there that weekend? im really hoping so-- he's my favorite player of all time and I'll be there those 2 games and I would LOVE to see his number get hung up once and for all!

  1. Although i'm not a mets fan, and haven't heard anything about the fact that he will be visiting shea the last weekend of the season, i don't think they should retire his number.  It is the last weekend in shea stadium so regardless or not past mets will be visiting.  But in regards to mike piazza i feel lik he is better known as a dodger so it is a toss up between which team would retire his number.  True he had more seasons as a met and compiled more stats as a met, and there were alot of trememndous memories as a met such as the homerun after 9/11, his homer in the 10 run rally against the braves, the bat being thrown at him from clemens, robin ventura imitating him and runing the bases before sliding into home during a rain dealy and all the mini mike mustaches that younger fans had drawn on their faces to try and be like him but i feel like he had better years as a dodger. So i would say that he should probably be retired as a Dodger.

  2. hopefully on the last home game of the year ver at shea stadium, its fitting, and i will be there

  3. they should he one of the greatest mets of all time

  4. Yeah, it would be nice to have #31 on the wall a Shea before its gone, considering that's where he played as a Met. But I'd doubt its going to happen. With just a limited number of games left, they would have, in all likelihood, announced a Mike Piazza day by now. In addition, there would be no reason, from a business perspective, to have it done on the last day, which is already a sellout. Special events like that are done with an eye to the box office. Yes, he will be there the last weekend, but so will other old-time Mets.

  5. They should retire his number. He was a great ball player.

  6. The Mets are bringing back alot of former players from Shea for the last weekend.

I think Mike's number 31 will be retired when he goes into the HOF.

  7. They will either retire it the last home game of the year or opening day next year.

    thats my guess

  8. im a boston fan but still he's one of the best ,if not the best, catchers ever he's also one of the top hitters

  9. Without a doubt they won't only because they don't have the time to plan it. It's much easier for them to wait for the new ballpark. But no matter, Piazza deserves it.

  10. i have absolutely no clue but they better!!!

who let mike out of his cage...HAHAHA

  11. Im not a Mets fan but i do agree that Piazza deserves to be honored.

  12. am a mets fan and i think they should...but why at Shea?its gonna get demolished anyway...ill say wait until he gets into HOF first
