Do you think the Olympics should be more than two weeks?

I'm seriously sad that the Olympics is over! It's so heartwarming to see all the nations in the world competing and getting along with one another! Seriously, 17 days is way too short - especially when it comes only once every four years. I love seeing people from all over the world put aside their differences and compete for the pride of their country. Anyone else feel the Olympics should be extended?

no, if they were to extend it they would need alot more sports, if they simply stretch the sports out over more days then it will be boring and wont be as interesting day by day.

and the fact that it is every 4 years is what makes them so good, its a rarer opportunity to get a medal if they were held any sooner people would tire of them quickly.

At first it that sounds great but then where do we draw the line? After a month of them you might be saying they should be two months.

I understand.  I am going to miss them too, I had such a blast watching them.

Quite honestly, I think two weeks is perfect.  For us, for the athletes, for the country hosting them, for the TV stations covering them; its such an undertaking, I think any more time would be exhausting to everyone!

Besides, remember there are alot of other competitions, with regard to many of the sports that are played in the Olympics.  For instance, the US Open (tennis) opens this week.  They have to coordinate other sporting events in an Olympic year.

I think it should be the same or less. I run out of steam toward the end because other than novelty, I only care about watching basketball, baseball, softball and Michael Phelps or whatever well-performing American is popular for that Olympics.
