Due to hurricane hanna hitting the east coast and tropical storm ike (possibly might form into a hurricane) thats heading towards the gulf of mexico

Depends.  It's possible the Republicans could finish their convention before Hannah hits.  I think Ike will arrive much too late to affect the convention.

the war protesters there are getting more media attention than the candidates

Very unlikely.  Hanna is not expected to be nearly as strong as Gustav and won't get nearly the coverage since it's not hitting New Orleans.
