Do you think the TB Rays will be able to keep up this level of ball come playoff time?

They played .750 ball in Aug., their avg. for the year is .622. By all means credit where credit is due, but they are such a young team. Will they be able to maintain their current high level of play considering how young and inexperienced their ball club is?

  1. That's The Age Old Q.

    There A great team.

    Maybe Even World Series Bound

  2. IDK, they are young and don't have a lot of playoff experience, i think they'll be out in the first round honestly, but that doesn't mean im not cheering for them!

  3. I don't think this is their year, although they have a lot of young and great talent they are going up against more mature teams with playoff experience... The Rays will be a threat for years to come but I believe they will not be able to with stand the playoff pressure this year

  4. well everyone was asking at the allstar break the same question. and they have so with about 30 or so games left, i think they will be hard to beat.

  5. Don't really have anyone with playoff experience, lose in first round.

  6. As long as they keep playing consistently, and don't let the "oooh we're in the playoffs, we need to try harder" mentality get into their heads, they will be fine in the playoffs. They've already shown in the regular season that they can match up with just about anyone.  If they remain confident,  and take things one game at a time, they will play well on October.

  7. that's debatable. really depends on their ability to seize the moment and if they can overcome their subpar road performances

  8. It's a toss-up.  They'll either play the Twins or White Sox in the Divisional Series, since they can't play Boston.  Even if they lose 3 games in a row, this team will have better chances in years to come.

  9. One stat sticks out. And it just isn't Tampa Bay as a division leader which is afflicted with this problem. The stat is their road record. It's below .500. Only the Angels, Phillies and the Cubs have winning records on the road this season among the division leaders and those who are really close in their divisions. I think it could be the ticking time bomb for a lot of teams who will be going into post-season play.

  10. Well they have owned the White Sox, Cubs, and Angels in season play and split with the Red Soxs?

  11. The Rays are going to make the playoffs as the Wild Card team (as long as the Yankees don't make a big run and take that from them) but will not win the division, as Boston can only get better with their recovering players (Lowell, Beckett, Drew, Colon, h**l maybe even Lugo, he had a pretty good October last year). Plus, 5.5 games is not much, especially in September, when the rosters expand.

  12. Nobody knows. If Percival comes back the way he was before, they have a MUCH better chance because Percival is a seasoned veteran. If he doesn't...who knows? The playoffs and the regular season are two different things. We don't know who is Mr. Clutch(if any) for the Rays so we'll just have to wait and find out

  13. Well, they do have a very good team that is hot right now. Yet, while they totally destroyed the Angels most of the time, they haven't played so against Boston or White Sox. I think their September games against Boston will determine their progress through the year and will be a test of their capabilities. While I can see them getting through the first round, I am not sure if they can win the AL and go into the World Series.

  14. Maybe but they will be up against some good teams such as the Angels and White Sox
