Do you think the Tampa Bay Rays can play .500 ball from here on?

If they only play .500 ball the rest of the way they will end the season with 96 wins and they are 30 games over .500 for the entire season so that's a piece of cake! I predict both the Red Sox and Yankees will not make the playoffs. They both have the Rays to deal with in Sept and the Rays have been beating the best teams in baseball........ Still wanna call it luck? They are 21-8 against 1st place teams since the all star break. They should crush teams that are 5 or 10 games out easily! The White Sox should edge out the Red Sox for wild card so it's byebye BoSox and Yanks, better luck next season....... NOT! Don't give me that bandwagoner c**p either. I have lived in Tampa Bay area for 21 years and have been a fan since day 1. We will need lots of wagons by the end of Sept just to hold all the new fans. Perhaps we can borrow some wagons from the Yanks and BoSox since they seem to have some empty wagons lately.

  1. I am a Yankee fan and I agree with everything you are saying.  But if it comes down to the end, I have to route for the Cubs.

  2. The Red Sox have been losing the games theyve got to win against the teams they got to win against. The Yankees are over rated to begin with. The Blue Jays just keep creeping up. I wouldnt be surprised to see the Jays in 2nd (at least 3rd).

But The Devil Rays? These guys are for real!!! Fundamentals.  That is their strength. No cockyness, just flat out BASEBALL!! No Manny, no Yuke, No over rated Derek, just baseball the way its supposed to be played.

Its a shame theyre not filling the park, though.

  3. There is no reason to think that they can't.  They've bucked the odds all season long.  Personally I think it's great for baseball.

  4. yeah  .600 even

  6. Of course it isn't luck.  The Rays have been playing like this all year except for that 7 game hiccup before the break.

Recheck your stats- The Rays are 4-1 vs 1st place teams since the break (2-1 vs LAA and 2-0 vs Chisox)  24-9 overall since the break.

I've been a Rays fan since their inception too.  Let's wait to gloat til we actually win the darn thing.  I share your enthusiasm, and since there are so many Yankee and Red Sox fans around here, its gonna be great to rub their noses in it but remember-- The Red Sox blew a 12 (I think) game lead with 6 weeks left in 1978.  So there's still a lot of baseball to play and anything can still happen.

Check this out for a bandwagon.  Note the avatar's name and see what he wrote in the comments.  Unbelievable.  A Rays "fan" named "tigersfan"

  7. They'll play over .500. Boston and NY can kiss the playoff wishes goodbye

  8. They're playing great right now, and it certainly looks like they should win the division.  However, starting next series they play 21 straight games against the AL East, 9 of them on the road.  They've already got a 28-19 record in the East, but they're 6-6 vs Boston and 5-7 against the Yankees, and those teams make up 12 of the 21 games.  That stretch could very well decide who wins the East.

If Boston is able to creep up close, it could be interesting because the Rays then have 4 games vs Minnesota (who will probably still be in contention for the Central), then 8 games on the road, where they're only just over .500.  It's a brutal finish, even if NY is floundering.
