Do you think the U.S. should invest more in rail transportation?

In Europe, the main form of transportation is by railroad. They have high speed light rail cars that can go to speeds of 300 miles per hour. The average speed, though, is about half that. I think that the government should invest more in travel by trains. Just think about it: the average high speed train could get from Salt Lake City to Las Vegas in around 2-3 hours vs. 6 hours by car; or from Seattle to San Francisco in about 6 hours compared to13 hours by car. It seems very logical to me. Do you think that the U.S. should start traveling by trains in addition to airplanes and cars?

  1. I think so.  It worked well for a long time and I don't know why train transportation has declined.  I personally have never flown and never will.  I will drive my car or go by train.

  2. Yes I totally agree. Too many cars and gas price keeps going up. Cars are slower compared to trains.

  3. Yes ,,,too many cars on the road and bad drivers. too many cars and too little fuel ...I think it was a shame they got rid of so many trains just to add too many trucks on the road.

  4. Yes, as cars are going to be too costly to run in the not too distant future.

  5. Yes, definitely.

  6. Yes, I think they should.  But, the automobile is so closely associated with the American Ego that I don't think that they will be able to do much.  Not unless they make driving so expensive that it is out of the hands of all but the very wealthy.

  7. YES THERE IS MUCH MORE THAT COULD BE DONE WITH RAIL TRANSPORTATION. NOW WOULD BE A GREAT TIME TO BUILD A NEW ULTRA MODERN RAIL SYSTEM.
