The U.S. Air Force flew the Georgian troops home from Iraq. Bush just gave a press conference calling Russia's actions unacceptable. We have a treaty with Georgia to help in their defense.

If Russia accepts a cease fire, than no.

If they don't, most certainly.

Politically we're already involved.  If you're talking troop deployments I doubt it.  We can't afford to go head to head against Russia.

No. We will look to the UN but we all know that's a joke. The interesting issue is so many people always say why does the US stick its nose into the business of other countries. But, once again, we see when something happens, who is looked to first. This is the price that goes with being the greatest nation in the world.

Militarily - not overtly.

Politically  - already has.

Since when does the US defend people, get real only invasions.. it is not like they can take Georgia and go like it is ours now like Iraq. What do they gain but a bunch of wasted tax dollars?

It would get ugly.. that is tire the bear down then rip it appart. US has forces but to actually fight a conventional war agaist russia? .. Hello europe.. hello world war.. it is very small number of russian troops involved at this point...

If georgia is truely an ally the US would be all over this.. it seems more like a --- well we are friends but I'm not taking risks for you.. type allies.
