  1. UK NRI - It is better to fix meters since people are actually misusing water as if it's supply is infinite.  Sample this, just to flush out 100 ml of urine, people press flush button to let go more than 10 litres of water. They must preserve water to the extent possible. Car wash, portico wash, watering the gardens are all areas where drinking water, if being used, can be replaced with recycled water.

  2. no way,we would spend a fortune on something that should be free anyway..water is a necessity

  3. Yes it should be. We have been getting charged by usage for gas and electricity for years. Why should water be any different?

  4. I do not know where you are at but in Michigan (Detroit area to be exact) where fresh water from the Great Lakes is plentiful we already have water meters and are charged according to usage..

  5. No way.

  6. WATER should be free.

  7. No

  8. Excellent Idea. Yes, I agree. We are on a meter and it is much cheaper. Those who use less will pay less. Who can argue with that, it is socially much more just. There are also lots of leaky pipes, wasting water. If it is the Water Authority's responsibility then the more metered water supplies the more these would be highlighted and action would be taken more readily. People who use larger than average amounts of water then have the power themselves to reduce their own water usage or continue to pay larger bills.

  9. Of course,  With all the filtering, pumping, storage and pipework neccessary to bring water to your tap why should thoe who are sensible pay yhe same price as those who are wasteful?

And then there's the green pro's to water metering....

  10. Believe it or not it actually works out cheaper to have a meter...i was dreading the water bills when we moved in to this house but we don't spend half as much on water as we did when we were charged annually'''

  11. If you are in the UK you can opt to have a meter installed. Depending on your usage it may work out cheaper, especially for small families, couples or single people. Larger families may find sticking with the flat fee is cheaper. If we were all metered it may make us a little less wasteful. Water is a precious commodity and the vast majority of people in the world cannot get clean water by turning a tap. For many, water could be hiding an invisible killer.

  12. yes deffinatly, this would stop people from wasting water
