  1. Yes I do think they will charge, banks are in it to make money from anything they can.........

  2. The question would have been better phrased 'Do you think the bank will charge me?' The remainder is almost irrelevant as banks charge for everything and nothing.

If perchance HBOS do not charge you, post another question headed 'I do not believe it, do you?'

  3. The bank may not charge since this is not a service they normally render and hence no defined cost. However, they should charge you if it is required that they mail this letter to passport control.

  4. It is normal for them to levy a charge, read the application form carefully and find out just who will be accepted as a responsible person.  Quite likely there is someone, a policeman friend or a JP you know who will do this on mates rate.  My doctor signed me up for insurance purposes only last Saturday and I gave her children a packet of sweets to say thank-you.  Better than pay a vast sum to the bank....... They may charge you for asking!

  5. Banks charge 4 everything !

  6. They shouldn't charge for doing this

  7. All you need to do is provide statements from your bank/s for the last four years, showing your addresses. This should be enough.

Otherwise, a letter from your chemist/teacher/local council member will do - all you have to do is draft out the letter yourself, and take it in to be signed.

Do it neatly, typed, with correct spelling.

    It should say:

    TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

This is to certify that I have known....(your name here).... of .........(your address here) .......... since ..... (date here) .... and that her identity has been proven to me on a number of instances in my capacity as.....(his job title here)....

    Signed ..................

    Date.......................

    Witness ...................

    Hope this helps.

  8. probs after all you are taking some of his/her time

  9. I think your banker should help you by giving you a letter to that effect. This is part of a bank's free personal services to customers.

  10. It depends on your account.  I have an account one up from the free one and they will do it for free but if they charge you, I dont think it will run you that nuch because it wont take that long to write.

  11. Hopefully they will do it as a favour but they could charge you............................ it will depend on who you ask so make sure it's someone nice that you have dealt with before.

  12. You may be lucky but Banks and Doctors they usually all charge for this service.

Like £25 to £30.00 Try a teacher, Job Center, Shop Owner, Police officer, Councillor, Land lord of a pub, Some one of some standing. Just draft out a letter as Elmina has suggested so as it just has to be filled in and signed.

  13. The banks charge for everything.Maybe you will be lucky.

    Good Luck

  14. You can only but ask them not to charge you.
