Uh, I don't care what other people posted, I'm asking this question to see if people agree with me. If they are younger than 16 then they don't deserve that gold medal. Any smart person knows that younger people have better athletic ability. If your not gonna answer the question, don't give me c**p. I can ask what I want.

  1. No way are they 16! They look 10.....In fact a chinese gymnast just got busted for not being 16, now she can't be awarded with the gold medal she won!

  2. some of them look really young, and like they said that it said they were 16 on their passports but they come from like the chinese government dont they? so like they could have just changed it.

  3. 1. If you think 14 year olds are better athletically than 16 year olds, you need to maybe attend a sporting event in high school. You think a team of freshman can beat a team of seniors at football?

    2. THERE IS NO PROOF. What happened to the principle that people are innocent until proven guilty? Once they start giving out some solid evidence instead of speculation, then I'll believe it.

EDIT-Younger people don't always recover quicker. Especially when it's 14 to 16. 16 year olds are closer to the prime of one's life than a 14 year old so they are in much ebtter shape. And there is NO FRICKING PROOF. Do you honestly believe every single article you read online? It makes me sick to my stomach that there are people like you out there that are thinking about all the other events China "cheated" in. This is that country's moment of glory. Even if the US is bitter they "only" got a silver, can't they give credit where credit is due? This is a disgrace.

  4. i think one is. shes very good and is at olympic level and thats the reason why the chinese govt is willing to put her on the team. for china, this isnt just another olympics. this is a chance for them to show the world their greatness. the fireworks were digital and the girl didnt sing in the opening ceremony. so yeah, i think its possible. either way, the girls are great. hopefully shawn johnson will be able to medal tongiht. oh and you cant go by appearance. remember the nine year old boy that woalked with yao ming? he looked like he was 5. most asian gymnists look young for their age anyway.

  5. NO, they look sooo young!!

  6. No, at least not all of them.

    Is it any big surprise?

They use a "cute" girl to sing the opening, then this.

Have we already forgotten all of the toys that were recalled.

Clearly we are dealing with some people in this country who to be held accountable for things.

  7. duh..they look 10 but r probably 9..who would have believed the wonderful red chinese would ever cheat???duh again

  8. No I don't think they are 16.  Both Yang and Jiang — and their teammate He Kexin — have been at the center of age falsification questions leading up to this Olympics. Some Chinese sports registration lists have shown that those gymnasts may not be old enough to compete at the Games. I do feel IOC did not look into this situation as thoroughly as they should have. Perhaps they did not want to offend the hosting nation.  This may be something they will have to set better rules on in the future as far as what can be used as proof of age. Some say they should eliminate the age limit to allow all countries to compete on the same level. I feel this would be detrimental to the sport and athletes.  But since IOC accepted their proof of age there is nothing that can be done at this point.

Edit:  I just saw a report on Fox News that says the Chinese newspaper which is govt. regulated has article that documents show one of the girls was 13 last year so she is 14 now.  Since this is from a Chinese journalist in their own newspaper it will be interesting to see what happens now.

  9. dont matter. those white girls frorm the us teams r like 15 and years ago i remember there was a young swimmer from france she still qualify. plus u hatin' caz chinese teenagers can beat us audlts

  10. Well, it's coming out now. Even the China media reported in November 2007 that one of the gymnasts was 13. Suddenly she is 16 in August 2008. LOL! Now, they removed that article.

To people who says it doesn't matter if they are not 16 since they are good, yes they are good but the rules say they have to be 16 so it does matter. If the rules say you can't use drugs, it would matter if you use drugs.

  11. Do you think that you will ever shut up? Stop posting the same question over and over. People are getting tired. Just do us all a favor and shut the h**l up.

  12. why cant you americans just live with the fact that you were beaten fair and square , the chinese and the american gymnasts were all brilliant, and the fact remains that the IOC will not let anyobdy compete in the olympics without sufficant proof of age and a range of other things.

stop being so upset that america cant win everything and just deal with it.

  13. Would this be an issue if the USA would have won. The chinese age slower than us. I"m sure they are 16

  14.   The media on yahoo, just answered you question.. One of the girls is 13.

  16. i dont think all of them were, maybe one gymnasts was underaged

  17. i was just reading the article about the girl that is supposedly 13 but now suddenly she is 16 but looking at her she looks really does look like she is 10! most of the team looks very very young.

  18. No, not all of them.  There's no way.  One of them looked maybe 12 tops.  Another has repeatedly had her age reported as 13-14.  Now suddenly she's 16 and conveniently her birthday was supposedly January 1st 1992?  Yeah right.

  19. no! they look like theyre 10 years old!

  20. yes.

they can't just lie to the

    gymnastics organizations,

    the olympics, the world, etc.

if they're younger than 16 then

    i think they're even MORE

deserving of a gold medal because

they're so talented at such a

    young age. quite prodigal, mm?

it's not that younger people are

better at sports, i don't know where

you got that, it's pretty off base.

    younger people have less experience

and fewer years of training under

    their belts.

  21. Nope.  I think they are lieing little snots and the Olympics should never be held in China again!

  22. its posible but they look younger than me and im not 16

  23. first i will say that we, the usa, got the medal we deserved. silver. the chinese outperformed. and, in my opinion, the chinese would have still won even if sacramone hadn't fallen, so people shouldn't be so hard on her either. i would not go as far as to say that the chinese won because of their size.

HOWEVER....doesn't it seem like a huge coincidence that 4 out of china's 6 best gymnasts just happened to be 16 the year the Olympics came? hmm thats lucky. and strange that their own newspapers cited the girls ages as younger previously? i didn't question their ages when i was watching but after those articles have come to light im pretty sure at least 1 or 2 are not 16. but oh well. nothing is going to happen about it and there is no use crying over it. silver is good.
