  1. I think they are underage. Their ages were reported to be 14 in China Daily, People's Daily, and Sina, all of which are government owned or run There is also evidence from an inner-city registration list and one of the gymnast's own coaches.

Americans are not saying this out of "poor sportsmanship". It was reported in the New York Times in July, before the Olympics started.

China has a history of age falsification in the Olympics. At the 2000 Sydney Olympics Chinese gymnast Yang Yun competed and won a bronze medal in the uneven bars. Yang's passport said she was born on December 24, 1984 and turning 16 in the year of the Games, making her eligible. She later confessed in a television interview that she was only 14 at the time of the competition and that she and her coaches had lied about her age.

If the girls really were 16 it could be proven using an MRI scan.

  2. LOL....Ummmmmmmmmm NO!

  3. They say they are...I believe them and most importently...I DON'T CARE!  We got beat...simple as that...second isn't so bad.

  4. i think they are 16 or above..sum ppl just look young...im 16 and ppl always think im 12 everywhere i go

  5. No Way!!!!

They said on the Olympics a few days ago that their birth certificates say some of them are fourteen but their Passports say that they are all over 16!

What would you believe more their birth certificates or there Passports??!!

  6. i agree with airhead and some def dont look 16 but neither do a lot of ppl and age gracefully and in good heath --- im one of them so i can understand from both pts of view --- i dont think they need or should change the age limit or rules

  7. wow im gonna say this one more time... STOP ASKING THIS QUESTION. it has been brought up a million times, why are people obsessing over this?

  8. No I don't think so.  Both Yang and Jiang — and their teammate He Kexin — have been at the center of age falsification questions leading up to this Olympics. Some Chinese sports registration lists have shown that those gymnasts may not be old enough to compete at the Games. I do feel IOC did not look into this situation as thoroughly as they should have.

Edit: I just saw a report on Fox News that says the Chinese newspaper which is govt. regulated has article that documents show one of the girls was 13 last year so she is 14 now. Since this is from a Chinese journalist in their own newspaper it will be interesting to see what happens now.

  9. No, there is no way those little girls are 16 or 17, I would say 11 or 12 is more likely. But, while it is against the rules, and what some people would call "cheating", I think it isn't a horrible thing that they are under aged. Think about it: These girls are taken at age 3 from their families and friends to go to a special gymnastics school. They train every day, almost all day. And from age 3, do you know how many times they see their parents? Once. Think about it: Only seeing your parents one time every year... when you're a toddler. These young girls have worked very, VERY hard to be in the Olympics, what's a few years?

  10. H*LL NO ! ! !

Did you see some of those girls.I read reports that the families of these girls give them to the chinese government when they're as young as 3 yrs.of age to train. They only get to visit their families maybe 3 times a year,so i doubt that they're going to wait 13+ years to qualify for the olympics !

  11. obviously some of them look like they are under 16. im not gonna say they dont deserve the gold. they just didnt play by the rules.  the min age limit should be removed since people are just ignoring it.
