Question:

Do you think (the circumstances of) tonight's Phillies victory helps to prove anything in the nl east?

the Phillies offense was shut down ALL night after the first inning and things looked terrible. They rallied in the ninth, went into the inning losing 5-2. But they brought 11 batters to the plate, and scored six runs to come out with the win in a game that was seemingly not theirs to win.

Does tonight worry, reassure, or change your opinion / prediction of the outcome of the nl east?

What are your curret predictions?

  1. Yeah, it does prove something. That Smith should close for the Mets while Wagner's out.

  2. The Marlins got shut down Monday night only got 2 hits and shutdown by the braves and scored no runs...

So tonight they came back at them and shut the braves down and won 4-0 themselves....

They only allowed 1 hit... that is more of a statement than the phillies..

  3. No, it was just one game and every team will have that happen to them through the course of a season.  It should be a very close race between the Phillies and Mets with an outside chance the Marlins can hang in there with them.  The team that will be able to step up their game and avoid serious injuries will come out on top.

  4. As of tonight i think this game gave the Phillies the push they needed and as great of a win is was for the Phillies it was a terrible loss for the Mets! From Carlos Ruiz getting 2 hits and Victorino hustling to second and Rollins smoking the ball and even So got a hot!! 1 for 19 everything went right for us like it did at the end of last year. The mets will spiral again and the phils will right there ship and go on to win the division again.

July 22nd is the day the Fightin Phils take there second straight divison!! I hope they sweep the Mucking Fets!!

  5. reassure.......my current prediction is that the Phils will win the east

  6. Some teams just have great games. I don't think them making a big come back like that will worry the other teams. Now if they were to have a 10 game win streak then that might change things in the NL East.

  7. I don't think the game proved anything. It was simply a great game. Let us keep in mind that Billy Wagner (the Mets closer) did not play. That eased the minds of Philly's batters a lot seeing as Johan Santana (who was dominate) did not come back out. While Philly has bats, I would like to wait till we get closer to the playoffs and the games really become crucial. The NL East is a really tight division full of good teams. I still like the Mets to win it, but wouldn't be surprised if Philly or the Marlins did. Sleeper Pick: don't be shocked if ATL gets hot and wins the division along with a NY slump.

  8. If you had to face the Mets all the time, I wouldnt worry a bit! Omar doesnt seem to think the Mets relief is all that bad....!!! After all its only a General Managers Job of a major league team,...... is all!!! Lets get another bat!!!!! WOW!!!! Good boy Omar, just what we need!!!! Omar 3 years of this mess Willie may be gone and off your shoulders, but the truth still plagues!!!!! Your Next!!!!!!!

  9. The Phillies need to build momentum off this game and start winning like the Mets did to them in the last series...This offense is too talented to be slumping like they have been.

  10. The Marlins will win it

  11. not at all, the mets will still win it, and this series has little effect on the final outcome of the season, the bullpen sucked lst night, and the mets probably wouldve won if wagner or santana was pitching

justas long as the mets dont get swept tonight im fine...going to shea tonight, should be fun

  12. I don't think it necessarily proved anything because the NL East is still a very tight race between the Phillies, Mets, and Marlins. The Phils need to use this victory, get those bats swinging, and hopefully win a series.

I'm still going with the Phils to win, i think their hungry for it, I know I am as well as every other Phillies fan who has supported them for so long. I just hope they don't choke.
