Do you think the conflict between Russia and Georgia could spark WWIII?

Question

I just joined the army as a infantryman, since then I've been paying more attention to world affairs, especially anything to do with conflicts. I've been watching the coverage over the Russia and Georgia conflict and one thing has been on my mind...could this result in a new world war? I mean, it seems like Russia and NATO dont get along at all. I can see Russia trying to start an alliance with some other small countries that NATO wont let in. Maybe this is just me being paranoid, anyways, give your guys thoughts about this, please.

you know this question runs thru my mind everyday its one we all are probaly thinking about....I hate russians they need to be punished for their lack of disipline.It may shoot off a few sparks who knows.......

If Russia is so foolish as to attack Poland, yes. (unfortunately--for the mess Russia is about to get us all into may lead to a nuclear exchange).

It looks to me that the USA may end up with a new draft. With all it's servicemen streached out all over the world, they have to come up with more able bodies to fight the NEXT war.

I wouldn't call this being paranoid, it's merely looking at a crisis, but I highly doubt that this will set off WWIII as Russians may be tough, arrogant, and power-hungry (politicians only), but that doesn't mean they're smart, there economy isn't all too grand, especially after communism caved in on the former U.S.S.R. Also, Russia really can't fall on anything but their nuclear weapons, which only puts everyone at a stalemate, as who would want to rule a dead world? Though Russia does have a vast amount of oil, rumor says it has even more than the Middle East, but why is the oil important? Oil runs the U.S. economy and other "first-world" countries. The problem is that nobody can reach the oil yet, but Russia will inevitably start something when they can obtain that oil.
