  1. Oh those bad mean nasty teachers, union bullies all of them.

They should be working for room and board again, living with the parents of the children like they did years ago.

Gee, I never thought that way about Miss Hurstel.

There are private schools now if you want to send your kids there.

The charter schools can pick and choose who they want to go to their schools, so if you kid isn't one of the honored ones, would you still want them draining funds from the public schools your kids would have to go to?

I don't think Democrats as a rule support such elitist thinking as schools for only the select.  I also don't think it has anything to do with unions, they are just not that many union members left anymore.

  2. Man, public education is historically undersupplied when left to a free market.  Contrary to popular belief, free markets have market failures including public goods and non rival goods.  Public goods are goods the free market do not deem profitable enough to supply.

On the other hand, I do not support unions.  It keeps ineffective teachers on the pay roll in so called "rubber rooms".  And on the other other hand, perhaps teachers should be paid more considering that right now, when a teacher gets a diploma, he or she is essentially upside down in their loans vs. their future income.

Show me a country with private education only and I will show you a country with a huge income gap.

  3. You want to send your kids to private school, don't let me stop you as long as YOU pay for it.

Privitization is a Republican way to steal from the public.

  4. So you umm think parents should have to pay for education now K-12?  What if they can't afford it?

Hate to break this to you, but just because republicans make an effort to break all government agencies by appointing their buddies and underqualified idiots to high offices so they can use the excuse to privatize it (hand over major contracts to their buddies and contributors), doesn't mean it's going to be done better.

And when something is privatized the #1 goal is PROFIT, not the service they are providing.  Worst yet, WE loose our voice and ability to change it.

  5. Only if they can collect money and taxes from it...   Then they would consider it.

If they could tax parents for sending children to private school to put it into a public school system that will fail no matter how much money is dumped into...  then they will be okay with that.

  6. No, the unions own the Democrats.  They could not give a c**p about students and quality education.

Catholic schools do it so much better and for less than half the price so one would think public schools would learn from them, eh?

Dems and misguided parents will make us all pay top dollar for dismal results (just look at D.C. and N.Y. public schools).  This whole fiasco (known as our public education system) would be comical if it were not so serious (and expensive).

Money is not the answer, but that never stopped Dems from dumping countless billions of it down a "black hole" while claiming its all for the good of the children.  Are these guys for real?

  7. no they dont give a d**n

  8. Why are we talking about Dems throwing money in a black hole? If I remember correctly Bush is a Repub. and has been taking BILLIONS of OUR dollars to Iraq to REBUILD the country HE CHOSE to destroy while we sit here in economic welfare........

  9. Actually, neither camp REALLY likes private education because there is a bit of "do as you're told and don't question authority" indoctrination going on in the public school system.

Governments really like it when the sheep fall in line and chew their cud.

    Baaaaaaaaa.

  10. Why don't we privatize the enter government government while we're at it?

If the government can't run the school system maybe they aren't doing their job? Maybe we should get competent people in?

Don't blame Democrats...Republicans had plenty of chances to change things and failed, too.The "best" they ever offered is this ridiculous concept of privatization which is EXACTLY the same as saying "we're total incompetent and irresponsible so let's have some one else do it".

  11. I don't think Democrats would support privatizing public education because it doesn't solve the problem of public education, which is not all schools give children the same opportunity to learn and succeed. The same would be true under a privatized school system. Even beyond that, we need parents that are willing to teach their children the value of education and provide an environment that is conducive to their learning, so that children will be more willing to work hard and do well in school. The problem doesn't entirely lie with public education, but avoiding systemic problems by creating a new system with the same problems doesn't provide a solution.

  12. Having suffered through 12 years of private education, I will never turn mu grandchildren over to the corporate interests.
