  1. No.

  2. absolutley stupid idea....could endanger or kill...for the sake of what?getting somewhere a bit quicker...and it will only end up like the other lanes then if the emergency services need a way through they got no chance....

well I did listen properly as a matter of fact 'zee' and it is still a stupid idea there are cretins who still drive whist using mobiles and people who have their kids unstrapped or on their knee so who says everone is going to pay attention...I still think it is stupid.....

  3. Why not let 4x4s drive off across country?

  4. you people are missing the point totally and not listening properly,

the scheme is called active traffic management and the hard shoulder will be monitored by cameras and controlled by signs above the carriage way extra pull-ins are situated every 500m with sensors in the ground that alert operators if a vehicle enters them, variable speed limits will also be in place along with speed cameras to catch the idiots that speed, the hard shoulder is a place of refuge and will remain that way, it would be to dangerous to just let traffic use it freely  that is why this complex system has been devised and trialed and proven to work,

Read the highway code for any further information

  5. Well that's the first I have heard of that but it seems like yet another hair brained scheme. Like V said - where will you go if you break down and, at the moment the hard shoulder is used by emergency vehicles so then what will happen - we'll just end up with another blocked lane and no-one will be able to get through.

  6. What happens if you break down? It's only supposed to operate at busy times of the day - however I suspect plenty of dingbats will have a go at using the hard shoulder all the time!

  7. how can it be?? where do you go if you break down?

  8. its already been trailed on the m42 south of Birmingham, there is an emergency refuge every 500 yards and overhead signs telling you whether the hard shoulder is open for running or not and CCTV monitoring it, it works really well the only problem i can see is if morons ignore the signs, if a vehicle breaks down or the services need it it gets shut immediately as long as drivers follow the info and clear it wheres the problem

  9. Probably one of the most idiotic ideas that this excuse for a government has ever devised.

If my car broke down on a stretch of motorway subjected to such use I wouldn't want anyone to be within a 100 metres of it and can you imagine the chaos and accidents that would be caused by everybody using the hard shoulder wanting to be back into the nearside lane because of a breakdown?

  10. I've just been listening about this on local radio. I can't see how it can be safe. The traffic driving along the hard shoulder will be reduced to a maximum of 50mph but that will be abused by the idiots who already exceed the speed limit in other lanes.

Apart from trying to find a safe place in the event of an emergency it's going to  make it extremely difficult to join the motorway from the slip road. A very bad idea in my opinion!

  11. I have never heard anything so stupid. What happens if you break down? where do you go to phone for help? This could be so dangerous I just dont think these people live in the real world.

  12. Unless they plan on doing alot of improvements then no it is not an safe idea.

  13. Of course its not a good idea what does the goverment think of that is a good idea???
