Alfred Angelo has this kinda new collection of bridesmaid dresses that are made of jersey knit and I thought they might be a good idea. They look comfortable and are reasonably priced for a bridesmaid dress. However my wedding is formal and in the evening, even in a long dress is jersey knit all the formal? I was thinking as saying they could pick of one these 2 dresses http://www.alfredangelo.com/Collections/ProductDisplay.aspx?productID=af0ac9f2-e924-4367-8505-52b60f1bbd3f&categoryID=772f03c9-de43-4942-bfa0-da77e21ebd65&pg=0 but it is like every other ugly bridesmaid dress.

  1. Jersey knit would usually not be formal enough for bridesmaids dresses but the dresses you chose are very pretty and do not look like they would be underdressed.

  2. The styles of the dresses are really pretty and appropriate (good job!) but alas, I think the fabric will make it too casual for a formal wedding.

  3. I love your dress so pretty . Also jersey material usually isnt formal but those dresses are all so beautiful that I think you can pull it off and it will be something new !

  4. Those dresses are beautiful. They will be fine! And comfortable in the stretchy knit!  I would say go for it and they will be appreciative of you letting them choose between them.

They also may be able to wear them again.

    Very cool!

  5. I think those are the most gorgeous jersey knit dresses I've ever seen I dont think they'd look underdressed next to the tuxes

  6. I think those would be great dresses, but jersey knit requires that the bridesmaids are in tip top condition or wear really good shapewear.

These look very similar to the gowns worn by bridesmaids at a wedding I attended in May.  Very lovely and elegant.  I like the black.  I don't think you can go wrong with this choice.

  8. Yes, those two styles you show are. I LOVE the first dress.

  9. I love the 2 jersey knit ones way better than the other one. Unless your wedding is black tie I think they are fancy enough. If  you are still unsure, they do have nice ones that are more traditional

that one looks really nice, and formal.

if you've ever read Wifey by Judy Blume, her main character wears a slinky jersey dress to a dinner party at a country club, so i think they can be just as formal as satin or taffiata and more comfortable and breathable.

    ask your bridesmaids, they'll agree.

  11. Beautiful dresses, but the fabric is too informal. They will look underdressed next to guys in tuxes. A suggestion: Check out the bridesmaid dresses from Watters & Watters. They are classic and elegant. Not at all like every other ugly bridesmaid dress.

  12. I think people are confusing "jersey" with "t-shirt."  Jersey just means that it is a stretch weave -- it could be made of an artificial fiber, it could be silk, it could be cotton.  Cotton jersey would look like a t-shirt or a sundress, but poly, nylon, lycra, or silk jersey could be formal.

Example?  Here is a Roberto Cavalli dress in black silk jersey.  Perfect for a red carpet entrance, and NO ONE would say that it's too informal.

I think the dresses you've selected are very pretty and definitely formal.

  13. Jersey knit is not formal at all.  Sorry!  If you like the cut of the first two dresses, see if they are offered in another fabric.

  14. It is your day for sure, but you have to give some consideration to the body type of your bridesmaids.  Not every woman can pull off a clingy, curvy jersey dress.  Your dress is amazing.  I am certain you will look stunning in it.  Not everyone may be as blessed as you are.  Just be careful!  Jersey dresses can be formal and accents can help dress them up more.  The first link is beautiful.  Congratulations!
