It seems that times have changed and the meaning "to protect n serve", no longer exist. COps today are just lookin for the easy bait. Like pullin over for tinted window or registration or meaningless stuff like that. Instead of stoppin real crime you know like robbery, homisicide. Violence and things like that.

It seems that they no longer out to protect and serve, but rather to get a cheap buck.

  1. I know it seems that way, but the Police are performing valid and necessary functions.  They pull people over for tinted windows/registration stickers etc. for two main reasons:

    1.  The law is the law with regards to those things (the law is not set by the police) and somebody is required to enforce the law or it loses all meaning.  With window tint it serves as a safety measure- for police approaching vehicles to be able to see who's in, and to ensure its not too dark for driver to see out.  For Registration Stickers, its mainly to ensure revenue for the state and make sure that the state knows who's driving what vehicles.

    2.  In my work I've seen that a lot of those seemingly stupid traffic stops lead to much bigger things.  Cop pulls over a car for not displaying a front license, boom, there's a huge bag of meth in the backseat.  So these traffic stops afford the police an opportunity to ensure that drivers aren't doing anything else illegal.

  2. The answer is 'YES'. About the same time that THEY and THEM decided to quit putting the word POLICE on the cars replacing it with Law Enforcement they painted over the phrase 'to protect and serve' because it didn't mean anything anymore...
