  1. Generally speaking yes! But yes-and-no answer cannot give us a full understanding of complexity.

  2. Plain out, YES YES and YES no doubt about it

  3. yes.  Totally.

I think they do it to cause drama. They are like those people that get a high from it.

    It's sick.

  4. Yes, of course.

  5. Yes. The media can create anything they want to.

But who is controlling the media ?

Those people who work behind a newspaper, magazine or TV . They need to have those feeling of discrimination in order to write/say a discriminated msg to the public. So, till the end, it's the people that made it up. Media is just a medium to convey those idea.

  6. Well...  Have you ever seen the news where SOME blacks were actually gangsters - perhaps the South Side Chicago could be a place to visit.  An Italian  mobster - the name Dan Gotti come to mind perhaps. There indeed was/is an Italian Mofia - ask the FBI - not all Italians, but some.  Or maybe you could visit any big city and deny that Asians own businesses, but I dobt it.  And what's wrong with owning a business?

Reality is not a stereotype.  Movies rarely say that ALL of any race or culture do EVERYTHING, ALWAYS.

    Siggy

  7. The media can help but the races / culture  usually help give themselves that sterotype.

  8. Yes.  The things you hear most about for any culture are the stereotypes, not the good, average, everyday people who are doing the right things the right way. If its not sensational, evoking raw hatred, disgust, pity or some other strong emotion, it rarely makes the news anymore. Feel good pieces about cultural festivals, diverse groups working together for a common goal, or just plain individuals who make a difference in their community are rarely seen. The news media are the worst offenders. As far as movies, they are a close second, because they are also trying to sell gut reactions and provoke.

Things like the adult cartoons poke fun at the worst of our culture, by parodying the newsmakers abuse of cultural stereotypes.

  9. Absolutely,  A black man steals a slice of pizza in L.A. Gets life because of the 3 strike rule.  A guy on Wall streets bilks millions from unsuspecting retires who used their life savings to invest and what does he get? Maybe a couple of years in jail and maybe a fine.  What a Joke

  10. newspapers generally give a negative perception of everything....
