  1. no i dont

bought and paid for - by whom ?

if you are trying to say that the media are controlled by the governemnt or illuminati like organisations - surely you can see the disperse and different editorials between say The Sun and The Guardian - totally different sides of the coin.

What they are are businesses and there objective is to sell stories and these stories and editorials are slanted according to what they believe their readership wants to see - therefore you see the serious articles of the Indy because it is aimed at people who are interested in intersting debate, you see the rabble rousing fervence about GAry Glitter and peados in The Sun, because it is read by people who want to read about peados getting their houses burnt down and you see loads of b***s in the Sport

  2. Speaking as a journalist for 30 years, I'd have a much bigger house if I were bought and paid for. Heck, I don't even take free passes to the local amusement park when offered.

And I'm actually pretty proud of how independent we are from the business side -- I haven't had one instance where we were pressured to run something.

  3. Well duh, of course they are. Anyone who doesn't know that is totally naive. But that doesn't mean journalism is absolutely without integrity.

  4. Yes, and that's on a good day.

  5. Hello,

(ANS) The problem I have with the media here in the UK is that most of it is owned by just x8 people or Media Barons (media Barons like Rupert Merdoc & his news corporation & Sky broadcasting, etc).

**Do NOT underestimate how powerful these Media Barons are at shaping the news & views we receive each day on literally everything.

    **THE PROBLEM,

not only are newspapers, TV & broadcasting powerful, not only do they have to make a profit's BUT I really worry how much newspapers & broadcasters now CREATE THE NEWS themselves in order to sell papers and get punters on seats to view their programs.

**Much TV here in the UK is cheap US twaddle of the worst brain dead dumbing down type. How Channel five stays in existence boggles my mind because all it ever shows is NCIS or NYCIS back to back. Its an utter waste of an entire TV channel in my view. I never watch channel 5 as I have zero interest in NCSI and I'm sure I'm not alone either.

**YES! The analogue that the media & papers are like hookers is not far off reality. Journalism has been flushed down the drain to the worst level. Few papers have anything worth reading in my view.

  6. They are owned by George Soros. He even bought many of the protestors at the DNC

  7. Depends on what type of media and who controls it. From my viewpoint, the worst are the Murdoch papers. They are politically biased, are not averse to lying and gross exaggeration and are a threat to democracy. I believe editors should personally face heavy fines and in the worst cases imprisonment if they knowingly print false or unsubstantiated stories. The recent McCanns case with the Daily Express and Daily Star are good examples of how far the print media [and Sky News] can drive opinions.
