I have a project, and it has to do with Media influence...

I think the media does influence the society a great deal, from styles to eating habits.

Can you give me any more ideas, or how the media does influence our society, and especially children?

  1. of course media influences our society.  there are even certain times of the week and day that particular shows will be broadcast. morning cartoons, news, primetime, etc.  hd digital cable companies are actually able to track the television shows that you watch! and have you seen that nick, jr television shows out now? YO GABBA GABBA. it is to some completely revolutionary, and to others offensively idiotic, but it definitely has some influence one way or another on its watchers. otherwise, media really has a way to keep a vast amount of watchers in a box and feed them what they want you to see and hear, and keep america happily ignorant...but thats not always necessarily a good thing...

  2. I'd say that advertising has more to do with influence.

How often have you seen a commercial: "Part of this complete breakfast!"?

I've tried a 'complete breakfast'.  I couldn't finish, and I couldn't eat anything till dinner.

  3. definitley, in influences our society a lot. especially children because they dont understand that even the news can be lies. they just accept whats on the news which can lead to problems. Most of the made up stories on the news lead ppl to believe bad things about others and gives them the wrong idea.

  4. I think about the OJ Simpson trial, previous and present political campaigns, the war in Iraq, the 911 terrorist bombing and so on.

The media shows these "events" that they become etched into our brains and as we watch them, numbly or emotionally engaged, our attitudes become colored by what the reports say.

Who really knows what the truth is anymore?  The media is under control of corporate America who also controls politics.

How does this affect children?  Lets see....kids of all ages hear about presidents having s*x in the oval office with someone other than his wife, corporate executives steal the hard earned money of the working man, local, state and federal officials are reported to use drugs, steal from the people, use hookers.  Sports figures do the same type of c**p.  Who can kids look up to anymore?

  5. Reality is such that media does influence us to the extreme of even carrying out violence in the name of nationalism.  To deny this is really ignorant and probably falls into that category where denial of reality is necessary for the good of some whole etc.etc.

I had to stop driving truck because I am unable to control the mass unconscious influx of propagating media from signposts to advertisements and even commercials and regular everyday activity that had me reacting by consuming so much that my weight was uncontrollable by me.  I had to stop in order to avoid the gross commercialization and advertisement of the consumer mentality.

We are all different but we all react to the refractions our sensory systems get stimulated by although not always consciously and not always in the same way.  My problem was particular to me and not in any way is this to be misconstrued into thinking others were the same as me.

  6. the media is controlled by the government

  7. It creates stereotypes, so it presents the image one one group or nation through a particular 'lens'.  For example, what do you associate with Africa?  France? Australia? So, even just using images, aren't our attitudes infleunced heavily?

well that's probably obvious anyways... hope it helps

  8. yes most definitely. umm lets see, smoking, even though they arent allowed to have ads anymore like the posters you see in schools for non-smoking the kid who has a ciggarette is always the center even though its to prevent smoking. i also think s*x is a really big thing the media influences. like we advertise condoms and all of these commercials and movies and shows that talk openly about s*x and have hot steamy s*x scences. in the magazines too, they have "how to have toe curling s*x" "what your guy needs in bed" and all of this stuff. like do we really need to know all of this??! perhaps its satisfying but everyone should wait till theyre married. then even in schools theyre all "abstinence is the key!!o but wait heres a condom anyhow in case you do decide to do it, make sure you're protected!" wth is up with that?! but yea lastl;y i think eating disorders too. theres always that perfect image of this girl whos tall and skinny and beautiful, but really no one is that skinny and if they are its sickly looking, its not even pretty. but we cant get away from it because to be a model and to be "pretty" in todays society you have to be a certain height and weight and have the right b***s and the right hips, no one can be beautiful anymore. dont they know that curvy girls are pretty as well as unique looking people. o yes and one last thing to go along with looks. stores like hollister and the stores that only sell skinny clothes, like i like those clothes ill shop there everyonce in awhile, but they only want skinny people wearing their clothes, wouldnt you want everyone to look nice with youre clothes? i guess not. then when someone fat comes along and goes into hollister or wherever they look bad and thats the point they dont want those people in their clothes which isnt fair. but yea those are my views and kids have it so much harder now the media has made the world a horrible place well i guess we have actually because we make the media who they are but yea thats a different story. sorry this turned out a lot longer than i expected but yea good luck!♥
