Although it never made it to hurricane status, it did dump alot of rain and did make 4 US landfall, not to mention what it did before making it to the US.

  1. yay!!!! never mind...fay sucks...it just doesnt want to leave does it?my name is Allison!!! isint that great!!! the weather people said that they might retire it...check weather.com

  2. It doesn't have to be a Cat 3 or higher to be retired.  Tropical storm Allison hit texas in 2001 and wasn't a hurricane.  They retired the name Allison.  The rainfall was in the 4 foot range.  It is possible that Fay will be retired.  The flooding was pretty bad.  It was a pretty historic storm.  It is still causing havoc now as we speak.  My grandmother in laws house got damaged today from a tornado in South Carolina associated with Fay.

  3. not until she's completely disabled...or 65.

  4. No, unfortuantly it has to be a category 3 or higher to be retired.

Even thought Fay has dumped so much rainfall and made landfall 4 times many other tropical storms/hurricanes have done the same thing

In a couple months almost everybody will forget about fay.

Now, Gustav may very well be retired this year.
