  1. If I could, I would eliminate it entirely. Why would an accused plead his case in front of 12 people who could not get excused, and for the most part are not happy to be there.

  2. it's not outmoded, it works fine.

and by professional jurors, do you mean a group who favors letting criminals run free, a al OJ Simpson or professional jurors that lock up innocent people, as in Marty Tankleff?

Because when you have a professional set of people in there and that's what they do, you better be prepared to accept which way they lean.

99.99 percent of the time our system works pretty d**n good and should be left the way it is

  3. It's one of the few government programs that works like it should. Why mess it up?

  4. No and No.  But as a defendant you have a choice in the matter.  A defendant can wave a jury trial and choose to be be tried by a judge - a professional juror steeped in the law and justice.  The right to a trial by jury is in our constitution.  But very few people opt out.  Proof enough it is not obsolete.

As to a professional jury pool, it's hard enough to keep attorney's and judges free of corruption, lets not add to the pool of the corruptible.

  5. Perfect for more American style coruption

  6. The jury trials have been working fine for a couple of centurys now. In almost every instance, these trials have been fair, the outcome in line with the law. People give up very little of their time serving on juries. They also get exposure as to what the court system entails.
