  1. It is not the principals decision. It is the district school board decision and yes they can decide anything without student or parent  input.

However, the parents can challenge this if they don't agree.

  2. I highly doubt that the Principal is the one who made this decision.  At least not solely on their own.  Most schools who institute dress codes do so because the Administration/School Board/Superintendent/etc... all agree that it is what is best for the school(s) as a whole.

Yeah it may sound bad right now but just because you have a uniform does not mean you can't still make it your own and express your style/uniqueness.  Many private schools have uniforms for their students and they do not all look the same.  Well.. the boys might but the girls can still express their individuality with shoes, bags, hair accessories, etc...

Get some ideas from the show Gossip Girl (if you are a girl) about how to really make a school uniform your own or read the books.  There may be guidelines as to what you can wear with your uniform but they cannot tell you you have to wear "X" brand of shoes , or carry a certain type of bag/backpack/etc... or how to wear your hair (outside of the typical dress code stuff).

  3. Learn how to spell PRINCIPAL, and don't hurt your head worrying about nonsense.

  4. Generally, I would expect it to be a district decision or at least involve the Parent-Teacher Association, or a School Advisory Committee (if there is one).  I wouldn't expect it to be a one-person decision, even if that one person is the principal.  However, every school district is different.  I'm in a huge district.  Maybe yours is smaller.

  5. Yes.  Dress code is something that's up to the school, not the parents.

Actually, uniforms are usually less expensive than school-clothes shopping, and tend to ease up on fights in schools.  That should make most parents happy.

  6. Hate to disappoint you, but the principal can make this rule.  I think you will find that many parents will back him/her up!  There will be less pressure for students to wear the "right clothes," and it will be much cheaper.

The administrators and teachers like it, because studies show that school uniforms actually improve behavior!  Try to think positively about it.  Everyone at school is in the same situation, so you don't have to feel silly.  It might be nice to not have to worry about what to wear.
