Do you think the "Chase" is pretty well over already?

looks like to me, a 40 yrs fan, that the it is almost likely that the top 15 to-day will be in the chase, The rest are already chasin' $

  1. tony stewart has been slipping up lately.

    he usually does good about now, like at Indianapolis, Watkins Glen, Sanoma, Daytona in July. we have alot to see, expicially like Kasey Kahnes little dominance streak.

I think the ones in the top 5 will remain, but this season has been so so crazy, 6th thru 12 will change a lot and theres some great drivers that could sneak in with some great finishes and wins....One thing for sure we all will know in Homestead when that checkered flag falls, I think it would be great if the top 6 or 7 would have a shot at it, that would make Homestead a great race...I do not like the chase, so hopefully it will go down to the last lap at Homestead with more than 1 or 2 drivers actually competiting for the Cup..

  3. Who Knows man anything can happen h**l the 01 Team at DEI may go postal an win the rest of the races this year and win the cup its just way to early in the year to tell as much as i want to see jr win the cup

  4. Uh.... no. The pre-chase format would decide the champion with 20 weeks to go, but not the chase format.

  5. just wait until the Jim Beam wears off and you'll be able to figure out, that it's way too soon to make that decision.

I disagree, Right now Tony Stewart is barely in the top 12 but he always comes on strong starting about now.  Some others may do that also, and some of the top 12 may have trouble and drop out.  So it's still wide open for now anyway.  Personaly I don't like the chase system.  Last season Jeff Gordon was screwed out of a championship because of it.

  7. No, I think actually this year is setting up to be more exciting than some previous years.  Kenseth is on the outside but charging hard.  Stewart is sitting on the fence in 12th.  It should be very exciting.

  9. No, we are only half way through contending for the chase. I think it might be a sure thing for the first three or four drivers as long as they don't DNF the majority of the next 13 races, and can get decent finishes.

    the top 5 will definitely stay.

    but the rest could be shaken up a little.

    there's plenty of drivers within the top 15 that could still make it in...which would obviously be kickin some people out.

    but as long as my 2 main guys (Jimmie & Rowdy) stay in..then i'm fine

    Not a Nascar fan?  Only the top 12 are in the chase.

    Some of it is pretty set right now but there could still be lots of surprises.

  18. No, I don't think it is over. I believe the top 12 will change before we get to the Chase.

If not for the chase format there would probably only be 4 or 5 drivers that would have a realistic chance of trying to keep pace with Kyle.  At least there will be 12 drivers duking it out for the last 10 races.  It will also be a battle for those last few spots in the chase.  Nobody out of the top 5 should feel very comfortable right now and there will be a lot of great action yet this year.  There is nothing that is over already, when we aren't even halfway through the schedule.  There are way too many variables to pick the front runner by the time the chase gets here.

  21. i would say only the top 4 or 5 are sure bets the next 4 are close but the bottom few can be caught it is close from 9 -16th
