  1. my skin is brown when i draw myself and color myself i us brown pencil crayon so its not

and black is a dark and evil and white is lite and good and the black market breaks government regulations so its bad and that's maybe y they call it black market

and to the person above me, no i dun think African Americans could be racist because we do no have the power to do what caucasions have dun to us

(sorry if i didnt spell it right)

  2. Black Sheep is definitely alot more racist if anything.

  3. This question is racist... JK

  4. I dont personally think the term is racist. But i see how it could be.

    Can black people be racist???

  5. no. black refers to evil . white good. It's not racists its like saying things are black and white. IT should not be thought of as White people and Black people. Caucasions aren't all white ... think about it do they ... we.. look like the background in this website? And black people aren't black like outerspace looks black. Doesn't make sense. Neither does racism. Good and bad...makes sense...racism... nonsense.

  6. I don't think it is

cuz the color black (no i don't mean the people!) represents darkness (edit- maybe in this case crime)

maybe the dark market would be a better name for it if some people really think it's racist

  7. doesn't it depend where "black market" originated from?  If it's origins came from something racist, then, yeah. If not, It's just another saying.  I like the point about the white lie.

  8. Oh god I can't even say black anymore.

  9. i've never really given this a thought but now that you've brought this to my attention.. yes it is... lets get this term banned from schools and public television...lmao

  10. I think terms like black market, black sheep, dark horse, etc demonstrate a centuries old bias that exists in Europen language and thought; not necessarily racist, however.

Interesting that in African literature the word "white" is associated with empty, lacking substance, pale, lacking beauty, lacking strength, etc.  Whereas black = strong, deep, rich, full, etc.

Racist - no, just kind of gives insight into how people think of others who are different from themselves.

  11. uh....you are talking about the black market... like.. the kind were people sell white tigers on?

    People think that? racist? woah.

No. I don't think that's raciest. I think the entire "racism" thing is kinda getting out of hand. EVERYTHING is racist now. I mean really. If we want to end racism, we have to stop deeming every little thing as offensive.

  12. Barometer's "Interesting that in African literature the word "white" is associated with empty, lacking substance, pale, lacking beauty, lacking strength, etc. Whereas black = strong, deep, rich, full, etc." says it best.

  13. No more than Yellow Fever or Brown Out or Black Out or Red Tide or White Sale...Unions have Black Friday, no union could ever be racist, could it?

  14. everything is racist.

    your face is racist now

  15. I don't think it is because it came from the term that they where in the black. So it's a market that no one knows about.

  16. Yes have you ever noticed everything associated with black is negative:

    Black sheep

    Black heart

    Black Listed

Try looking it up in the dictionary you'll be surprised!

  17. I always thought it should be called the mocha market.

  18. everything is now

  19. i don't, but a lot of people probably do. i asked this guy to hand me the black pen and they were like omg r u trying to be funny?

  20. No. The phrase predates western civilization.  The Greeks and Romans referred to it as an economic impediment to collecting taxes.  Historically, it is referring to sales that go on after legal hours.  In the old days, this meant at night, in the dark, where no one could see.  Hence the term Black, meaning unseen.

A more modern reference can be made to military special forces, whose secret operations are referred to as "Black Ops", for the same reason.

  21. Everything is racist now, its getting ridiculous.  WHO CARES ABOUT BEING POLITICALLY CORRECT.

  22. No more than Playing The Color Card.

As I recall the US Government recently said the USA was sorry about the fix Africans found themselves in regarding slavery related issues.

I can't provide a fresh deck.  Deal me another card please.

  23. It has nothing to do with race. In many places, the color black represents something bad, while white represents something good (this is also not racist). And/or because black=darkness, where you can't see anything without some source of light.

Basically that is why it's called Black Market, you don't know about it unless someone specifically tells you where to get it.

  24. No, the "Black Market" is not racist, it's just that it's a market that not too many people know about where it is. So it's like being kept in the dark that's all the black part is. You know being in the pitch "Black" dark.

  25. LOL.. no way.  It doesn't have anything to do with black people. It was originally used among military folks during WW2

  26. WTF yea and a white lie is also.

  27. no?

its an underground distribution center of illegal items

  28. i kinda do

i dont know why people call darker skinned ppl "black" i find that insulting...

  29. Sounds like they've all fallen and bumped their heads. Black Market isn't racist!!! Why do people always play the race card. It sickens me. Get a gripe, we all bleed the same blood.

  30. Nope not at all.It just means it is a market that is hidden and not advertised and does not in no way refer to individuals or cultures.I mean if you think about it,there are several terms that use the word black such as black hole, black out, black eye and so on but none of them refer to ethnic origin.

  31. No, I never thought of it as  being racist. I associate the word black in this case with illegal. The color black is associated with crime. Because criminals wear dark clothes .
