Do you think the universe is a race?

Do you ever think sometimes that the universe is one big race? A set amount of time with civilizations scattered throughout the universe and they have to solve the mysteries of the universe? I know this is stupid, but when i hear people say like "This is one step closer to how we are going to get to other planets." or something, i think that the further we get, the closer we are to so many more questions and answers. And then once we get all the answers, eternal salvation or another prize?

  1. Personally, I think you're close

WARNING: the following is my silly religious belief.   Certain portions of it may be incompatible or blasphemous to your silly religious belief.   No personal offense is intended.  I believe that all religious beliefs, mine included, are equally silly, as all are equally unverifiable by experimentation.

I like to believe that the universe is one giant Experiment, with a very specific goal:

Imagine if you were God.  One God, alone, omniscient, all that jazz.  If you were alone in the universe, wouldn't you long for companionship?  And I don't mean an ant farm or even a dog.  Wouldn't it be nice sometimes to be able to talk to someone who's on the same intellectual level as you are?  Who maybe didn't always agree with you? Even if just to relieve the boredom?

So, I propose that God conceived of an experiment:  He/She/It would create a universe by rubbing its 'branes together, set it up with physical laws that make life possible, even likely, and also hardy.   Then WHUMPH!  Let it go and see what happens.

Life has one purpose: evolve.   Evolve into something intelligent.  Then learn, accumulate data, and continue to grow.  Add to the sum of your species' knowledge.

While individual lives are relatively unimportant in this philosophy, the collective intelligence of the species is very much so.

And the point of the exercise?  Eventually, a species will learn all that is learnable.  It will find a way to share that knowledge with every member of the species.  At that time, it will transcend existence and become omniscient... just like the God-thing.

And then, God will have someone to talk to.

This experiment is going on on every planet.  The experiment is entirely random, for the sake of novelty.  On some worlds, life never gets the opportunity to arise.  On some, it dies out, or never advances.  On others, it destroys itself, or never bothers to seek out all available knowledge.

But the successes... well, we don't know about them, presuming they exist yet.  But there's no reason to think the experiment wouldn't run to conclusion over and over again.  After all, Two God's are company, but three's a community.  And they're even more entertaining.

  2. The universe is what it is, the universe.

  3. ya if i no wat ur saying

  4. That is not a stupid question or belief, in my opinion. It's nice to see that someone can think outside the box. All life is stuggling to move forward and evolve. Most forms of life hit the ceiling and pretty much stop, but we Humans stive for more. That is noble. However, to expect eternal salvation and/or some other prize is typical Human greed. Life is what it is; cruel and very, very finite.

  5. You got it. God, Allah, Yahweh, Jesus, and Chuck Norris all took bets on who would achieve an absolute understanding of the universe first. The winner gets to become a deity and bet on the next universe. So far mankind is dead last, but its not over until the fat lady sings.

  6. no

  7. you mean like Universlings . I kinda like cosmodians .It has a funny look to it and wouldn't likely be confused with university graduates or students . Oh, Don't count on anything like this in our life time if even ever .

  8. I think you might have overthought this one a bit..
