  1. That is ridiculous. Example- Gore's jet burns more fuel than a poor person would use in his lifetime.

The elite will get a free pass while the poor will be made to sacrifice-just as it has always been.

  2. i think the upper classes are more caring about recycling ,they tend to think they are better and more income than than the working class and aslo have more time on there hand s to this .i dont drive so i cant get to any of our recycling places

  3. Actually, I think it's the opposite. My son works on re-cycling in Cornwall, and picks up far more from the "posher" area's. There is a pretty rough council estate in St Blazey, whereby most of the occupants are druggies, or alcoholics, and social misfits. They just couldn't be bothered with re-cycling, as most of them are either too pi$$ed, too stoned, or just can't be bothered to get out of bed in time for the pick up.

There is a big difference between poor working class,(who do their bit for re-cycling) and the plain bone idle low life people who don't reckon being environmentall friendly applies to them.

  4. Generalisation of so many individuals, you just won't find out this way.  Types of people are in the upper classes and the working classes of both environmentally aware and those who are not.

  5. The poor upper class are generally less wasteful than the rich working class.

The poor working class are often more wasteful than the poor upper class, if they are less educated.

Being able to afford waste, is a misguided status symbol followed by the working class. The upper class have no need of status.

Recycling is lateral thinking - not which colour dustbin you use.

  6. .they can bet a lot of them thing stuff like recycling and other simple are too much for for them...

however there are a lot of people from all classes working hard towards a green society

  7. I actually think it has to do with knowledge vs. ignorance.

A lot of poor but educated people recycle, as do rich educated people, whereas stupid folk, either rich or poor, don't have any idea what they are doing to the environment.

I'm speaking from experience. I live in Italy and all my husband's family live in the south. They are pretty well-off, but don't give a rat's *** about recycling. They don't consider what happens to their waste at all. But their neighbors, who are extremely poor, are exactly the same way.

(Look at the current trash problems in Napoli)

Here in the north almost EVERYONE recycles--it doesn't matter if you're rich or poor. It's taught to the people, and through education (i.e. knowledge) things get done.

  8. No. By sheer volume, the working class is more wasteful.

Also the higher up you go, more ofen than not the education level rises and with more education the chances of making better decisions increases.  (Yes it's a generality, but the question is asking about generalities).

  9. No working class seem to buy more one time use items.  Upper class buy more and use more.

  10. I dont think its so much class related as much as ignorance related. so i dont think upper classes are necessarly more wasteful, but i do think they can spend money on things they dont need where as poor people who can only afford the basics might create less waste that way.

  11. The working class definitely wastes more even if they don't notice.. the upper class usually doesn't use as much because they have money.. why the h**l would you eat canned and bottled food if you could go to a nice restaurant.. think about it..

  12. No, the working class is a LOT more wasteful.  The wealthy rarely throw away things...they donate them as a tax break (which also means they get reused).  They buy quality items that last 5 times as long as the cheap stuff ( that's five times less stuff in the land fills).  They often hire professional cleaners and landscapers, people who get the job done a LOT more efficiently than the average person would.  The list goes on and on, but I think you can see where this leads...

oh yeah, they care more about the environment than the average working joe because they have more time to spend IN the environment.  Sailing, hiking, climbing, camping, hunting, fishing, cycling...what good is leisure time if there's no place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city?

  13. The ones who think they`ve `made it` by running round in 4X4`s don`t seem very bothered do they?

  14. It's a bit of a generalisation, but they're probably equally guilty, either through ignorance or lack of care.

Some throw away because they can afford to and like to flaunt it, others do it because they don't care or haven't been taught to care.

I wonder if it's the ones in the middle who care the most.

  15. yes i think you r right.
