everyone wants world peace, but dissagreements over how to achieve it just make us go backwards, creating more arguements and more wars.

World Peace is a pipe dream. As long as there are differing forms of government and egos running those governments, there will be conflicts.

I hope that the answer will not disappoint you. But we will never get such president, and even if we get someone who love peace, it does not matter. we may get a president whose agenda will accomplish marginal peace, but not long term. There are many reasons behind that:

1. Economic competition, and the need for foreign markets will generate conflicts that will invite U.S. engagement.

2. The U.S. continue to seek expansion of its military power, such as trying to build a missile shield in Poland. That will promote Russia, China, and other nations to respond.

3. Neo-conservatives control the U.S. foriegn policy, and they advocate unilateral action.

4. Everyone blames the president for war, but the congress & its special interest groups are more powerful. they want to dominate the world, and that can't be done peacefully.

I think they all want it.. Just differant positions on how to obtain it.. Some seem "pessimistic", and feel intervention will deter peace.. Or, well... They used to.. I'm not quite sure lately... Republican presidents seem to be flipping all over the place...

Both USA and UK are built on a long history of war - we must just get used to it.

A famous Athenian, Aristotle, once said, "Only the dead shall know an end of war".  He was right.

The British do not forget who the enemy is and will go on to the end of time and destroy them totally.  All the waffle coming out of certain sources will make no difference.  The word 'revenge' is writ large across the battle standards as we go forward to meet and destroy the enemy.

I really dont think so, mainly because i think its impossible to have worldpeace. No matter what happens, there is ALWAYS going to be a country that isnt happy, or always be crime. Its just the way it is. I do however think that we can help out to make out world a better place (which is why i posted this question: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;... )

Wanting world peace is a noble goal, but life's reality says that there will always be another Attila the Hun, Constantine, Hitler, Mussolini, Edie Amin, Saddam Hussein or Ahmadinejad rise up.  President Teddy Roosevelt said it best when he stated, "Speak softly but carry a big stick."
