Do you think the way im doing things is weird?

i have gotten several comments about the way I'm doing my wedding. my fiance and i are eloping in jamaica and having a cake and punch reception when we return. the "unusual" part will be we are having our marriage blessed at the reception and i will be wearing my wedding dress. there will also be a slide show of us growing up, our family (we already have a son together), and jamaica. we are doing the blessing to incorporate our families (and obviously God) into our wedding that they couldn't attend. my fiance and i just feel that it will be more intiment it its just the two of us.

do you think the way im doing things is weird?

I think you are having the wedding on the honeymoon which you are having before the blessing and the party, so yes, weird but to each his own.

Actually, I think this is becoming a pretty common way to do things, now that more and more people are having destination weddings.

I have a question, although I am in no way criticizing your decision, but why are you getting married in Jamaica and then having a blessing ceremony, rather than just going to Jamaica and getting married the day of your reception so your fam/friends witness the real thing?  Just curious.

having your own little private wedding sounds so cool...

would love to that but can't..

if you and your partner are happy that's all that matters...

Not at all!! I find it very cute!  Not weird at all!

With weddings, there's always going to be somebody who will criticize, so just forget about everyone's opinion and do whatever you want!!!!

BTW, when I get married, I want to do it in Vegas with a handful of friends, and then maybe a dinner with my close family when I return.... some people will find it weird or untraditional, but I don't care!

It doesn't sound weird to me at all. It is your wedding day and it should be planned how you and your husband want it to be planned. Congratulations. :)

hi, well for me it won't sound weird if you had the reason of doing so...that occasion is special, of coarse your expected to choose the best thing for your wedding. If you think that It's good to be that way then go for it. You don't have to trouble yourself and worry what people would say. Doing things that isn't usual will make people grow...charge it to experience.

Weddings are as unique as the people in them, I mean some people get married underwater or in hot air balloons. As long as it is something that you and you fiance want and will look back with treasured memories it will be perfect. And how many people get to say that they had two weddings ? That way it will be double the fun!
