  1. The Wedding March IS an instrumental.  Many churches will not allow secular music up to and including the wedding march to be played inside the church so check with them as most have their own selections for you to pick from or they simply tell you what they will be using.

  2. Completely your choice - but use any song that means something to you.

I prefer a song - classical, popular or whatever - that makes me think "this reflects the bride and groom perfectly".  It completely depends on the personalities involved.

Personally I am probably going to use a song rather than the traditional classical music - a song that means something to both my groom and I.  I think the song used as the bride's entrance is just as important as the "first dance".  My church has said we can use anything we like - it is our day.

  3. For the processional, I've seen both - and each is nice in its own way.

For our wedding, we had instrumental.

  4. In my opinion the processional should be a song with words, because how else are people supposed to participate if they're not singing? I don't get to do this, because my church says it's supposed to be an instrumental, but I may argue that one.

  5. I really enjoy the traditional music with no words, because I think it is very beautiful. However if you want to be more modern you could play your favorite song as a couple or pick another slow song that reminds you of walking down the aisle.

  6. i prefer instrumental music at weddings. On This Day is a pretty song, but songs with words just seems to distract from the event going on. music should add to the moment in front of you, not be the focal point of it.

however, that's how i'd plan my own wedding. this is YOUR day and you should do whatever you think would help make it a special one to remember. just my thoughts.

  7. Pachelbel's Canon in D is an excellent choice for wedding music, and is very common as well, it's frequently used for the processional, but it's a beautiful piece of music.  I'm not familiar with David Pomeranz, but if you like it, then that's all that matters--but I'd listen to it after listening to the Canon, you might not think those 2 pieces sound right together.  But if they do, then it's YOUR wedding, and you should have the music YOU want.

As far as suggestions for the recessional, I'm always partial to Bach or Handel, both have many pieces that are wonderful.  Here's a link that I like http://www.wedalert.com/songs/ceremony/i...  you can listen to clips of different songs/pieces and figure out what you like.  There's all different genre's there too, everything from classical to country to rock.

    Good luck!
