It is true that way back when, of coarse i am too young to know what that was like, people lived very simply. I myself try to live as simple as possible and as green as possible. Number one it's healthier for myself and my children. Ive notice that a lot of people are jumping on the band wagon of the natural and organic movement. Does this mean that we are actually realizing that life was much better when we had to work for what we needed. That finally the farmers that have stuck to what they believed in through the struggle could become a success after generations of hard work. My family for years has lived organically, my grandmother and grandfather grew our vegetables and herbs we had some livestock and everything was made from scratch literally. Yes it was hard work but a good nutritious meal was on the table every night.

  1. I am on board with you, but only time will tell if this is a lasting change  or a passing fad. let's hope for the former.

  2. I don't believe it's possible to 'revert' on a large scale. There are just too many people. Reducing your personal impact on the environment is admirable, but the bottom line is

    more people = more impact.

  3. we are intellectually going back into the dark ages

rife with superstitions and religious fanaticisms

Yahoo answers is ample proof of that.

And speaking of agriculture, the Babylonians ,Egyptians ,and Olmec s Were more advanced and sustainable than us,

and so are the Kogi to this dayhttp://www.theelderbrother.com/mystory/i...

    and speaking of technology

The technology that build Baalbeck (a prehistoric space port) was way above out heads

So if we want to go back to the best old days ,it has to be quite a few thousand years ,to reach the most advanced level

  4. I think that peoples awareness has increased and the green movement who were formerly regarded as a bit cranky is now seen as a way of safe guarding the earth rather than stripping it of everything without replenishing the soil. I don't think we should really want time to go backward to when there were even more hungry people than now but we need to recognise that the rampant consumerism of the western world is not sustainable.

  5. I don't think that we can revert back to the old days.  We have to be careful when we speak of the "old ways" being better.  There was a lot of soil contamination in those days from people growing their own food.  I think we have to have a combination of the old ways with new technology and knowledge.  We should continue to strive towards a healthier food source while protecting our environment more than they did in the old days.  Another point is that it is becoming more obvious that our food supply can be an easy target of terrorist groups and we should definitely pursue development of providing ourselves with a food source that is reliable and safe.... which means grow your own!!!

  6. No.They make bigger S.U.V.s and trucks every year.Even gas grilles are as big as some cars.People love to waste.

  7. we want the best of the old and the best of the new.

chemical agribusiness has had its day. we cant afford to keep stripping the carbon out of the soils and destroying the beneficial soil organisms, its just stupid, and totally dependent on cheap oil anyway.
