  1. Nope won't happen ............ and if it does ......... well I guess you can't say I told you so, right?

  2. Tell me, if the Mayas were so smart, then why were they conquered by a bunch of Spanish folk in 1500's?

  3. Yeah its gonna happen.  My friends,' uncles', girlfriends', cousins',  wife's babysitters' grandma said it would happen.

  4. No because the Maya calandar is just a myth the same as all other pagan religions.

  5. 12/21/12 is the date predicted.

I don't think that it will be the "end" of the world like people think of it.  I think that there will be a fundamental moment that will change the world as we know it.

There have been a lot of predictions from many different groups and people.  A lot of it has turned out to be c**p.  Some of it seems to have some merit.

The world is changing faster and faster every day.  I'm not sure if anything can "or should be" done about it.  The thing that we do have power over is the way that things change.

Check out this guy named Terrance McKenna.  He's got some cool theories that might interest you.  Seems to be right up your alley.

  6. Nope.

  7. Not a chance. I'll bet you six million dollars....

  8. Yes, NASA found the asteroid that will hit the earth, but they say it will be April 22

  9. Yeah, i acctually think so, cause they were so good at that time and date stuff and all...

  10. the bible says that no one can predict the end of the world not even jesus as a human new. only God know and i put my faith in him that what ever happens, i wll go with the flow and not worry about a thing. you stupid heads can waste all your money on stuff cuz you want the most of your "last days" and when all is perfectly good on dec.27, youll all be very sorry.

  11. Excerpt from an article in USA Today:  "Part of the 2012 mystique stems from the stars.  On the winter solstice in 2012, the sun will be aligned with the center of the Milky Way for the first time in about 26,000 years.  This means that whatever energy typically streams to the Earth from the center of the Milky Way will indeed be disrupted on 12/21/12 at 11:11 pm, Universal Time.

But scholars doubt that the ancient Maya extrapolated great meaning from anticipating the alignment-  if they were even aware of what the configuration would be."

The question is, did the Maya view this date as "the end of the world" or, "the end of a cycle"?  It is quite possible that we are responsible for attaching the apocalyptic meaning, as no evidence has been found that proves that the Maya attached this meaning to the end of the 5,000+ year cycle.  On the other hand, there's nothing to prove that they didn't, either....!

  12. yeah not a chance.

  13. Bottom line "NO." The Mayan calender comes to the end of a cycle. It doesn't predict anything like the end of the world.

Which calendar are you using? It's 5700 something in the Jewish one. There's also a 7 year math error in our calender, so it's really 2014.

The Mayan calendar supposedly stops at "Dec. 21, 2012, when the Maya's "Long Count" calendar marks the end of a 5,126-year era. " It doesn't say "Then everything ends." In fact it doesn't say anything specific

One problem is calculating this date to our calendar. An excerpt from some discussion runs: "in which the Venus Round is cut short after 61 Venus cycles to locate a new 1 Ahau Sacred Day of Venus near an actual Venus morningstar appearance, is probably only one of many conceived by the Maya...potent Venus Round of 37,960 days...dichotomy between Lounsbury's work and Thompson's, ... correlation question...Thompson correlation of 1930 (corr# 584285), while Thompson himself revised it 2 days in 1950 (corr# 584283).

So what will happen on this date (or has already happened, or may happen some indefinite time before or afterwards?)

"Lawrence Joseph forecasts widespread catastrophe in Apocalypse 2012: A Scientific Investigation Into Civilization's End. Spiritual healer Andrew Smith predicts a restoration of a "true balance between Divine Feminine and Masculine" in The Revolution of 2012: Vol. 1, The Preparation. In 2012, Daniel Pinchbeck anticipates a "change in the nature of consciousness," assisted by indigenous insights and psychedelic drug use."

    What so others say?

"For the ancient Maya, it was a huge celebration to make it to the end of a whole cycle," says Sandra Noble, executive director of the Foundation for the Advancement of Mesoamerican Studies in Crystal River, Fla. To render Dec. 21, 2012, as a doomsday or moment of cosmic shifting, she says, is "a complete fabrication and a chance for a lot of people to cash in."

As for disasters, a review of the last 40 years has these books and events predicting disaster:

1968 "Population Bomb". Too many people in the 1980s and starvation.

"Famine 1975" In that year we run out of food

"Greening of America" We all become hippies eating un-homogenized peanut butter.

"Future Shock" We'll have too many choices. (The concept of multi-tasking wasn't known then)

the 1970s had a concern of a "new ice age" we should increase the greenhouse effect

"Jupiter Effect" the planets will line up and the earth will do something.

"Y2K" Points given for those that can explain "why" it was a concern.

Millennium Supposedly it was to be the end of the world. The question was"Is it 2000 or 2001?"

If you get the impression, there's a lot of disaster predictions and they sell books, you're right.

During the 1800s there were a number of movements that predicted the end of the world. People gave away everything they owned and gathered to await the end. Nothing happened. Well there was one guy that did die. He jumped from a church steeple expecting to fly to heaven. A couple of days later, people started trying to get their stuff back.

  24. Hope not, i am quite enjoying life at the moment.

  25. It isn't so much that it predicts that the world will end on that date BUT rather the calendar didn't extend past that time ..

To be honest .. .I am going to keep living my life and if the world happens to end on that day .. well I wouldn't have lost any sleep over it ...

maybe mankind just falls off the planet.

  26. I don't think anyone knows when the world will end so I don't really believe anyone's predictions.

  27. i don't think anyone will really know that until that time comes

  28. no

  29. I'm not think'n so!  Why would the world end so soon?  What immediate thread does humanity have?  unless a terrible disease spawns from our overcrowdedness, the world probably will not end in 2012.

  30. Ours is not to know the day, the hour, or the minute.
