Apparently, the Mayans predicted their own demise and that prophecy was fulfilled. Which makes Dec 21, 2012 questionable, because the Mayan calendar doesn't really say that the world will end, all it does is stop. A Mayan Y2K, so to speak. However, if one were to argue that the calendar stopping equals the apocalypse, based on Mayan astrology, magic, or what-ever, the date they picked does actually coincide with an outstanding astrological event: the sun aligns with the center of the galaxy. Which means, what? Well, it has happened before, so basically it means nothing. But good for the Mayans to have predicted this so accurately with no telescopes and no calculators. Will the world end in 2012? General consensus is, no, the world will not end in 2012.

Allow me to make a prediction of my own. What ends in 2012 is money, and it ends in the pockets of the media and those hoping to capitalize on the fearful and curious nature of mankind.

I thought it was going to end on Dec. 31 1999. No wait, it's ending in August this year when a new atom smasher is used for the first time at CERN which will create a black hole. No, it's definitely ending in 2012, or was it some other date.

Honestly, nobody knows. 99% of people who claim to know have had it completely wrong. The other 1% of dates haven't occured yet (ie. 21/12/2012) I'm sure 100's of dates people claimed the world was going to end has passed and we're still here. Some Mayanists even claim the last day of the calender isn't until Dec 23 2012. Lots of inconsistencies, misinterpretations and people with too much time on their hands.

Do not worry.  Do not be scared.  I assure you that the world will not end on 2012 December 21 but it will end one day.  Nostradamus’ prediction of when the earth will end is far into the future, past about 3700.  He still has many prophecies that are not fulfilled yet.  Remember that if there is a beginning, there is an end.  

The Mayan’s Mesoamerican Long Count calendar forms the basis for a New Age belief, first forecast by Jose Arguelles, that a cataclysm will take place on or about 2012 December 21 (Wikipedia).  It will be the end of a Mayan calendar cycle to start a new cycle.

In the book of Revelation, it tells us about a period of a thousand years of peace. Has this occurred already since the time of Jesus? Not yet. That will still come. Those that give predictions of the world’s end, such as 2012 and numerous times during the past, are pseudo-preachers. Have they talked to God directly? If so, give proofs.

But there is something that is certain—and that is our physical death. This is what we should prepare for. It may come when least expected. We do not know the day and the hour. It will come like a thief in the night. So we just have to be prepared all the time. Search for the true God and when we find Him, follow His commandments and remain in Him until our last dying breath.

This is all that we have to do. It is faith in the true God that we can take with us when we depart from this world. If we denied Him, He will deny us also before the Father in Heaven and send us to h**l. This is very scary – to live in h**l forever.  If we knew Him and loved Him and followed His commandments, then He may reward us to live with Him eternally in His kingdom in Heaven. This is the survival kit that we should have.

What is also certain to happen very soon (in about 2012 or earlier) is World War III and this is a nuclear war.  This calamitous war will start from the Philippines, at Spratly Islands in particular.  The Spratly Islands lie on the South China Sea mostly near the coast of the Philippines.  The Holy Spirit told us that the troubles in the Philippines is like the wick of a lamp.  Once the wick is lit, it will be on and aglow.  He told us about this prophecy more than a decade ago.  Please read what is happening in the Philippines now.  Spratly Islands which is being claimed wholly or partly by six countries including China is in the news and considered a tinderbox, a flash point.  It is very rich in oil and gas resources, more than the reserve of Kuwait.  The high price of oil may trigger the grabbing of these islands and start the war.

I don't think so, The Aztec calendar end in the middle of  this year, of 2008 And nothing happed, an life when on. When the Mayan calendar end, It well, started all over again. and again. and again. no..... I think that part of the legend was added after they did the math. Like... they would make the calendar and finish. A few years later, the scholars would realize that the calendar would end at some point as ask the priest or whomever speaks to the gods, what would happen. Logically, if the calendars counts the days, then, the day will end when the calendar stops counting. That's just my theory on how that was added to the legend by the Mayas.

I do however liked the idea about aliens dropping us off here. I think that's what Scientology is about. not really sure, never read about them. The mayan's math is really, REALLY good. I say the aliens who dropped them off told them this, and picked them up to leave at some point. I also would like to think the aliens are actually humans ,and humans did not orginate from Earth, that's why we are sooo out of sync with our habitat. As mentioned in the movie "The Matrix", humans consumes al hte resources and move to a new area to do the same like a virus, unlike the animals of the planet that form ecosystems. Back to the point, these alien will come back to the planet on this date and.... I don't know, capture all the humans to be slaves or restore the planet or destroy the planet or settle a new group of species. (That's how the dinosaurs died) :)

Back to the Mayans and the death count down, there's a book and site that is supposedly very convincing. Not sure what the name and title is...
