It's the in thing in the UK, I'm wondering if this business idea can be practised in Malaysia, maybe a Kebab Van with a Malaysian twist and food like satay etc etc.

  1. Actually, there are many example of food marketing here. You have to come with a good strategy to come with the Kebab Van. Maybe pasar malam or some exhibition venue the place to start marketing.

    Good luck!

  2. There are kebab stalls set up around shopping malls.

I've eaten them before at Jaya Supermarket.

As for the Kebab Van (or mobile food court) isn't a unique idea in Malaysia as it's been implemented before. I've seen it but it didn't really launched successfully because some of their signature hotdogs & other dishes e.g. rojak & fries were more famous thus they opted to sell it more.

Besides the cost of maintenance & also time to operate & cook kebab & of course main thing is what wins the customers heart. The target customers & target item as objective are important here.

But then again, since there are PLENTY of mamak stall in Malaysia that also sell roti kebab & various types of fresh cooked bread & cheaper cost & with drinks & place to sit. Most ppl. prefer such places.

  3. Sounds good. Well go ahead and give it a shot!

  4. Came & gone.

  5. Don't you know that Malaysia is a food haven ? Hehe ..

What I mean is there will always be potential for every type of food in Malaysia. Here we have food, from American to Japanese, Indonesian to Lebanese food. And they are striving!

But I guess it'll be better to venture into halal kebab food as Muslims in Malaysia is rather particular about this.

  6. There are burger vans here - selling Ramly Burgers. These are much cheaper and just as filling as McDonald's.

There is potential - but if your satay and kebab doesn't taste good (even if it may be cheap) people won't buy it, they would rather drive all the way to their favourite stall somewhere in some neighbourhood.

In night markets (pasar malam) there are stalls selling Kebab already - they aren't as mobile as the vans but they move from one nightmarket to another, every night of the week.

  7. maybe burger would be nice....

  8. Good business, but I'd prefer SYAWARMA rather than Kebab. And don't add chilly sauce, just that garlic sour cream sauce, yummy!
