No. There will always be racial cultural and religious differences to divide the earth.

I doubt it.   It seems we will destroy or damage all life on Earth long before we are wise enough to live together embracing difference and getting our priorities right.    Look at what myopic "national interest" and the veto has done to the UN.   So I think that if we ever did unite under one government etc. it might be just an ant's nest or a beehive.   And that seems to me to be a dreadful end to all the best possibilities inherent in humanity.  So maybe it's Catch 22.   Our strengths are also our weaknesses - we all die on our own swords - and every species has built into it the seeds of its own destruction and extinction.   Ours might well prove to be imagination, inventiveness, selective collaboration,  and persistence!

I would say it depends on advances in technology.  The internet has put globalization on steroids, but the physical distance between countries still leaves cultures distinct and different.  Being able to gather and manage all those cultures under one government would be too difficult.  However, if a form of physical transportation were invented which made it possible to travel inexpensively and quickly anywhere in the world, I believe a world government wouldn't be far around the corner.

I don't believe that will ever happen. Look at anyone who tried to take over the world, it failed miserably. And even if they tried to make unification diplomatic, it would utterly fail.

Only as a temporary measure in the event we really do come under attack from "Invaders from Mars" or some other non-terrestial source.  Don't hold your breath waiting for that one, btw.  One world would wipe out free enterprise, profit, competition and a lot of other healthy ideals which contribute to general world economy.

I'm not certain. The earth hasn't done it so far. Possibly as a governmental force. But will folks ever practice tolerance for the common good and a harmonious way of life? (excuse me, while I adjust my rose-tinted glasses) Time will tell, won't it?

Earth is already united by the oceans surrounding it. And why talk about political unity, when even within the same family, there is diversity in opinions?
