you know how predatory animals, i.e. cyotes, lions etc have small eyes that are closely spaced and preyed upon animals, i.e. doves, gazzelles etc have wide eyes that are widely spaced (to increase their visual field). do you think that there might be a link between humans and animals? like more aggressive types of people i.e. murderers, rapists etc have the same sort of appearance,as predatory animals, and more docile people have the same sort of appearance as the hunted animals? just a thought, watcha think?x

  1. Although it's a good connection, there's probably no relation between the two. It would be very distant, and even so, most behavioral problems are caused because of hormone imbalances.

  2. No, it doesn't work that way.

Just think, it's what you said yourself. coyotes, lions etc have some characteristics, but so do the gazelles, the doves, etc. My point is, that we re just another spieces, not a category of animals.

Asking if aggressive people have some characteristics that differ from  docile people is like asking if more aggressive lions have different characteristics from more docile lions. It's the same spieces, they have the same characteristics and just different behavior, which, however, is between some rational limits that nature has put. The same story goes for every spieces, including humans.

  3. We already have binocular vision and any variance within that is minimal.

  4. i think you have got a good point... us humans have eyes the same size and spacing to most predators, i think you have hit on something big... heres a tip write a book

  5. Cats in general have large eyes that are placed infront in order to concentrate better on their prey while they are pursuing it.   Owls have the same style of eye, i.e. large and in front.  Therefore perhaps the size of eye has nothing to do with the spacing.

However I believe deer and horses and generally grazing animals have their eyes widely spaced, as you say.

Consecuently whether this can indicate simular characteristics in a Human is to say that widely-spaced eyes would belong to someone who tends to do activities that need a greater all-round vision in order to protect them from Preditors.

    Well, why not?

In which case it might be logical to suspect that someone with the more  closely -spaced eye might indicate someone more given to concentrate intensely on one given subject, for whatever reason.  It could also indicate greater mental intensity perhaps?  The widely-spaced eye might indicate a more open character, more tending to be sociable and more aware of everything around them.  They might also be more easily inclined to escape from situations that molest or worry them, while the person with the closely-spaced eye would perhaps hold his/her ground in a situation of danger.

    It`s a very interesting question.

  6. impossible- we are too distantly related- also link between physical biology and behaviour is always a slippery slope

  7. This brings us back to the nature v nurture argument.  If my dad was a murderer it in no way means I will be.

  8. at the end of the day we are animals. which ever way you look at.

we have similar mating rituals, and attacking manners.

if someone hurts our young - we defend them.

    we provid for our families.

we dress our best to attract the opposite s*x.

so why not this connection? if you notice the more evil people do have little beady shifty eyes along with the untidy un-kept look.

  9. You are referring to interspecific evolutionary adaptations. For the most part, under most circumstances, humans are under similar ecological pressures therefore they will not have markedly different evolutionary features within a population.

  10. The animals you mentioned and most prey vs predator biology is far far removed in terms of taxonomical relationship.  We have stereoscopic vision (due to our eyes being in the front rather than the side) because our distant ancestors needed it more to judge the distances between branches than to hunt food.

If there is a connection between eyes and criminal behavior, it is not because of stereoscopic vision.  Satanist philosophy (I'm not a Satanist, please don't flame me for this) would hold that because they look like a predator they should incline themselves to persue that quality.
