Do you think there should be a website that lists every single penny the government spends?

On both a local and government level, every dollar they spend should be public information - where are all the billions of dollars going? It's time to end the childish pie chart and list the specifics, the last time any info came out, it was a $10,000 toilet 20 years ago. G-d knows what else there is that they should be held accountable for, and all the people will be able to go through the trillions of pages, grouped categorically, like a public audit. After all, it's our money and they always audit us when they have any questions about how much tax we're dishing out to them. I think it would be a fair method of checks and balances. What do you think?

  1. Good idea but isnt gonna happen for the simple reason that the federal government has a black budget for all the criminal activities they are doing in our country and others.

  2. If there was, it would all be lies anyhow. Why bother wasting my time to read it? The government is nothing but one huge conspiracy. Welcome to America, wait...welcome to the world for that matter.

  3. > billions

    try trillions sweetie.

your suggestion shows a clear lack of the basics of accounting, let alone forensic accounting.

it also shows a clear lack of how our government is structured by the constitution when it comes to checks and balances.

it just so happens that last week I read James Madison's (hear of him?) notes from the Constitutional Convention of 1787.

I can assure you (and you can find the materials on line easily) that the last thing the Founding Fathers wanted was every citizen meddling in every detail. They were well aware of places where that had been tried in the past and failed dismally.

Instead they settled on a Representative Republic system, with the checks and balances you mentioned but don't seem compelled to work within.

They also were well aware that telegraphing finance matters publicly is good for neither diplomatic nor military purposes, and they knew already of foreign intrigue in the US (as they put it) and that foreign intrigue of our own would be necessary.

They also left open the document for Amendments, so if you want to ditch our way of government, and replace it with something else, you are more then welcome to start such a campaign.

    good luck with that!

  4. cupcake, i am in complete agreement with you on this. ole.

  5. yeah that would be cool i support your idea.

  6. I think it's a very good idea.  For one thing it might make all those people who ignore the cost of the Iraq war and oil subsidies, but complain about welfare scammers shut up.

  7. That is a great idea!!!!

  8. That would be awesome.  It would take time and money to set up the system, but I think we would save money in the long run.  We also ought to bring back the line-item veto.

  9. We the people HAVE to hold our POLITICIANS ACCOUNTABLE.  There is so much back room and secret dealings it is unbelievable.  All the pork spending...........YES we the taxpayers want to know.

  10. You do know you can fine the current and past Federal budgets online, right?

You will never see exactly every penny they spend, because they do now know where ever penny goes.

  11. Most definitely,YES

  12. That lists everything the government spends? I'm not sure there's that much bandwidth on the internet!
