.... clairvoyants, psychics, mediums etc...

A lot of other occupations have a body that regulates the members and qualification and recognition must be gained before you are premitted to practise your trade.

Given the damage that an unscrupulous or unskilled psychic could cause isn't it reasonable that they are also tested and regulated?

  1. It would seem reasonable.

But then there would be no clairvoyants or psychics or mediums.

    Hey, good idea....

  2. No, that falls under the religion category. If these people had to take a test then so would the Christian faith healers and prophets.

Some cities are already regulating religion by forcing psychics and mediums to declare it is for entertainment purposes only.

  3. No  I don't. Licensing has never created a better medical doctor, psychologist, accountant or improved in any way, shape or form any professional practice. Granted giving psychics a license would lead them to being able to get insurance claims and be controlled by the managed care industry (ask any medical professional how that is going) but it remove creativity, innovation, and create psychics painting by the numbers.

It also creates a false sense of security in the public that they are protected from bad practices when in fact it at the most gives them a channel to take actions against bad practice. Any consumer should be as wary of any medical doctor, CPA, etc. as they are of their local psychic.

All that said I do think a volunteer certification organization where a psychic, medium, etc. agrees to abide by an ethical set of standards (just as medical doctors and psychologist have) is a great idea. That way people can choose to go to some one that follows these principles if they wish.

  4. I  agree there should be a test. Then maybe people would stop believing in this nonsense. Then again, involving the government in supernatural silliness.Might not be such a bad idea. They're always looking for new ways to waste tax dollars.

  5. Yes, I think it should be like that, however, there are to many phonies out there that even if they were to regulate it......how much business do you think we would get? Heck, I think most of the replies we get here are just to be mean to people with a gift, what does that tell ya.

  6. yeh there should be a qualification officially stating they are a psychic or what ever

  7. It would seem like a good idea at first, but history has shown otherwise.  When you have a board that regulates psychics, alternative medicine, etc., it seems like it's just like any other regulated industry.  But what has happened in the past is that the board is infiltrated by true believers because they're the only ones "qualified" or inclined to participate on such a board.  Then all you have is a state-sponsored licensing bureau rubber-stamping applications and lending an air of credibility and legitimacy to the industry.

  8. There are some tests out there, but those are more like self testing...  I don't know how the government tests these people, but I do know that they do somehow cuz they wouldn't use psychics for investigations if they didn't know they weren't accurate...  Being psychic myself doesn't change the logic of proving it.  It is very hard to such a thing since some days you can be right on and some days you are as far away from the truth as anyone else...  I hope this helps somewhat...

  9. not in our life time too many people dont believe in it so ya just guna have to wait a few hundred years

  10. You'd think so, wouldn't you? Alas, there isn't one, and probably won't be until being a psychic, clairvoyant or medium comes out of the closet and is more generally accepted by the world at large. Until that happens, most people will just have to be more careful about who they give their money to when they want to talk to a dead friend or relative.
