Have you noticed how the weather patterns have and are changing? If you look back, you'll see that winter ends later than it used to...causing our April showers to continue into June. It seems like its becoming slightly predictable. So do you think that the dates for seasons will ever be moved to fit the weather? Or what about the school year? Lots of kids have farm work to do, but the farming season is being cut in half because of the delayed rainy season. Do you think anyone will catch on to these patterns and make change? Or do you think I make no sense?

  1. I live in Norway and many people here say that the winter comes with the first snow. The problem is that the snow comes months earlier in the mountains than the coast.

In meteorology, the winter is between the winter solstice (22 December) and the spring equinox (22 Mars). Spring then last until the summer solstice (22 June) and autumn (or fall, as you may call it) starts at the autumn equinox (22 September).

I once had a discussion with my wife when I said that the average temperature in southern Norway is 18 degrees centigrades in July. She answered: No! It's much warmer than that when I sit in my garden at noon!

Of course. But if you are interested in meteorology and you want to compare temperatures, you must use the daily average; the temperature over 24 hours. Otherwise, it is like comparing oranges and apples.
