  1. may be

  2. I don't think there would be protests if the seals weren't pups and if Canadians used rifles instead of clubs.

  3. Exactly!  When's the last time you heard people yelling "save the opposums!" from being roadkill?

  4. Probably not.

Not many people protest the tens of thousands of cattle, pigs and chickens which are slaughtered every day in the united states.

People anthropomorphise the cute animals more than the boring ones.

  5. I doubt it, that's how shallow the thought process is these days too.

Cute = good, Ugly = bad.

  6. In the end we're all meat, deal with it.

  7. No, the seal hunt protest is driven by image.

People block out the facts and use images to pass on their message and use a seal to raise money.

Lots of people who see these pictures and websites don't even that it's against regulations to kill a seal pup.

It's also against regulation to skin a seal alive.

And they're not even close to being at risk.

People are only shocked because they have no idea how slaughter houses operate. If you have no issue with a hamburger you shouldn't be upset with flipper pie.

Killing an animal is never pretty. There is blood it's the way it works. But in the Canadian seal hunt the majority of seals are shot. Those killed with a hakipik die quickly.

  8. Its nothing to do with looks, its bang out of order full stop. The Chinese arseholes are doing the same thing to whales. If an alien came to earth, you would look ugly to it. Does that mean you should be less bothered if it started killing us for research?
