  1. completely unreasonable. It's all just to keep the sponsors happy. There's no thought for the fans there at all.

A couple took picnic cutlery to the games? So what! Why's that bad? I've got a knife on my desk in front of me right now, you know why? 'cause I just had my lunch! I'm not about to stab someone with it!

  2. I think that it's utter nonsense. I get the same carry on when I go to watch Scotland playing football. I can't take my plastic water bottle in with me but I am able to buy the exact same brand in the stadium for twice the price!!! It's a money making scam and I think that most of us are totally fed up with it. If I'm going to "lob" my plastic bottle at the match, it seems silly to pay double for the opportunity!!! - not that I would anyway....

  3. I have not seen the "picnic knives", so cannot say.  The police obviously have powers to take away dangerous weapons, but a man of 60 and a woman of 30??  Hardly seems likely they would have an ulterior motive for carrying these knives.  Another case of persecuting the law abiding majority in this country, whilst letting real criminals alone.  How long do we propose to let all this go on?

As for "security guards" taking away food and drink items -  I think this is called stealing.  Security guards have no legal powers to do anything that I know of.  It is scandelous, and the general public should boycott Wimbledon and anywhere else that employs these tactics.  I would not have handed over any items, however I might have told the morons what they could do with the Jodans bar!!

  4. As far as the knives go I think the police were within their rights.   ""A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police confirmed the arrests, adding that the blades found on the two were classed as lock knives.""   Lock knives are illegal.

As for confiscating food, I think it is outrageous.  The cost of food at any big event is usually extortionate and that is why people often bring their own, or get something outside the event to take in.  In this case if was freebies.  If the sponsors were interested in anything other than profit THEY are the ones who should be handing out the freebies.   Having to buy food inside is just holding people to ransom.
