All speak of the same concerns, and the same confusion. They do not understand why some people disparage them as "illegals" or "criminals." They do not understand why federal officials are pressing criminal identity theft charges against many of the detained immigrants, who say they did not know they were buying stolen information. http://apnews.myway.com/article/20080816/D92JGJ8G2.html

At Spice-n-Ice liquor store, which once stocked 23 varieties of vodka, the shelves now hold an assortment of Mexican and Guatemalan beer.

  1. Absolutely! Info in passed back and forth. It's not like the green card holders don't go back and forth to Mexico. You think they are not going to tell relatives how to come and what papers are needed?

McDonald's in Nevada was fined $1 million for providing fake ID and SS# for illegal immigrants working in their restaurants. And while illegals can't go back and forth they do call home constantly.

  2. i got this from ur article ( pay attention to the reaction of those who lived with them ) :

It was as if a tornado had whipped through the town or a flood had swallowed up houses. A disaster. Man-made, but a disaster all the same. Three months after the raid, that's how many in Postville describe the events of May 12.

Lives disrupted. People pushed out of jobs and homes. Children separated from parents. Businesses verging towards collapse.

And as in any small town swept by disaster, the community quickly banded together to help the victims.

In the days following the raid, donations of food, clothing and money poured into St. Bridget's, which became a sanctuary to nearly 400 immigrants, and to the local food pantry, flocked by families in need.

Red ribbons, symbolizing support for the detained workers, still flutter from lamp posts and tree trunks. A sign on one front lawn near the Agriprocessors plant declares: "Immigrants Welcome. Bienvenidos."

"We've got a lot of people here who need help. We can't just throw them out on the street," said the silver-haired mayor. "They're our family. They've made their homes here, had jobs here, raised families here."

As with a disaster, the initial mobilization has been followed by shifting emotions - quiet anger at the federal government's actions; outrage at allegations of abusive working conditions at the plant; and above all, worry.

The entire town seems weighed down by worry and a bone-deep weariness these days.

At a recent Sunday sermon in St. Bridget's, where the pastor, Rev. Richard Gaul, likened the need to help feed immigrant families to the miracle of the loaves and fishes.

......... to answer ur "question" i not sure how could they had known , is not like they use the same system in their countries and if someone offered them the opportunity to feed their families by buying an identity im sure they did quite understood what were the implications of doing buying such identity .... most undocumented come to the USA knowing little about the need for a SS to be able to get a job .

  3. Of course they know right form wrong.....

How would they know of all of the loop holes that we have.

Why would they pay the coyotes $ obtain a fake SS??

  4. Well, I don't know. Ask them

  5. Of course they did.  They can play stupid in their nation, but we ain't buying that bull here.

"I didn't know they were illegal" LOL, if I had a nickle for every time I heard that.

  6. Asolutely they did.

  7. They prefer to be called undocumented workers.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug

    dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'

  8. Those running their show and leading them, know exactly what they are doing and they couldnt care less about us or our laws!

  9. So if they don't realize they are breaking the law when they sneak across the border, why are they sneaking?  And why are they using other peoples ID's instead of their own if they don't think they are doing anything wrong?

Ignorance of the law is no defense.
