  1. i think they are cute

  2. I love leah Marie, but everyone has a form of mary as their middle name, and Rachel Elizabeth doesn't flow that well, maybe Florencia Elizabettte, or (if you really want maire) Mariette or Leahtte or Christine, Geraldine...

  3. Yeah. Personally, I like Leah Marie better but they're both cute.

  4. Cute names!

  6. Yes, those names are lovely and cute and go well together.

  7. twins...cool. Very cute names : ) I had trouble naming my twins, he wanted Michael and Jordan.I thought that was a little too obvious, so I went with Michael and Justin.Good luck!

  8. Yes, they both sound very classy.

  9. I like the Biblical references.

Leah and Rachel were sisters & both became the wives of Jacob, which you probably knew if you named them that.

Marie is a derivative of Mary.  Mary, the mother of Jesus, and Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist, were also related (cousins, I think?)

So you have sister names with connected lineage in both the Old and New Testaments.  Be sure to tell these girls those stories as they grow up, so they will associate themselves with these wonderful Bible characters and some of their positive attributes.  (You might leave the part out about Leah and Rachel being jealous of each other, etc., until they are older, though!)

    LEAH

    Gender: Feminine

    Usage: English, Jewish, Biblical

    Pronounced: LEE-ə (English)   [key]

From the Hebrew name לֵאָה (Le'ah) which was probably derived from the Hebrew word לְאָה (le'ah) meaning "weary". Alternatively it might derive from a Chaldean name meaning "mistress" or "ruler" in Assyrian. In the Old Testament Leah was the first wife of Jacob and the mother of seven of his children. Although this name was used by Jews in the Middle Ages, it was not typical as an English Christian name until after the Protestant Reformation, being common among the Puritans.

    RACHEL

    Gender: Feminine

Usage: English, Jewish, French, German, Biblical

    Other Scripts: רָחֵל (Hebrew)

Pronounced: RAY-chəl (English), ra-SHEL (French)   [key]

Means "ewe" in Hebrew. In the Old Testament this was the name of the favourite wife of Jacob and the mother of Joseph and Benjamin. The name was common among Jews in the Middle Ages, but it was not generally used as a Christian name in the English-speaking world until after the Protestant Reformation
