  1. I truly hope not ! Why mess with perfection.

  2. i really hope not, Al Pacino IS scarface.. this is one where there really is no need for a remake.  it was perfect.

  3. NOPE! I don't think it should be remade! Just like The Godfather (all 3 parts), Alien, Aliens, Predator, and a couple others these classics should never be remade! Why remake such great classics!?

  4. Well as Hollywood has zero imagination, it's highly likely, although they will either :-

    *   add the date "Scarface 2008",

    *  "a new beginning", "Scarface, a new beginning"

    *  The directors name, "John Carpenter's Scarface" or

    *  Redux, "Scarface: Redux"

  5. Mr. Oobleck and Panama beat me to it.  The Scarface you're talking about isn't the first Scarface...

(but I do think it's the better of the two, and no, there should NOT be another attempt)

  6. i hope not too

the movie scarface was the best of the best

  7. i'm really surprised they haven't already, although it is such a classic with alot of the major players still alive that it's not time yet.

let the major players die off and another generation roll around and there will be a remake with the same plot, storyline and up to date actors....

studios are famous for remaking classics for new generations who don't know they are watching a poorly done fake of something great

  8. They already have.  The Brian DePalma film with Al Pacino chewing up the scenery (Say 'ello t' ma lil fwen!) is a kind of remake of the classic gangster film "Scarface" that starred Paul Muni in 1932.

BTW "Scarface" was a nickname for Chicago gangster Al Capone

  9. They already did. The Al Pacino is an updating of the original.

    The original:

    Scarface (1932)

Directed by Howard Hawks. With Paul Muni. An Italian immigrant takes over the Chicago mob. One of the greatest gangster films of all time.

    - here's part of the end of the original (YouTube): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGvbu2UMH...

    The remake:

Scarface (1983) Directed by Brian De Palma. With Al Pacino, and Michelle Pfeiffer. Set in 1980 Miami, a Cuban immigrant takes over a drug empire.

More versions to come? None in the works, but someday I'm sure.

  10. They better not. Like everyone said it is great the way it is. How can you replace Al Pacino? You just can't. It is a classic. Some movies should never... I repeat NEVER be touched.

  11. I hope not. It is fine the way it is.

  12. I hope not, one ugly violent movie glorifying drug dealing is enough.
