Do you think they will give James Thompson a rematch against Kimbo Slice because of the controversial stoppage

I just was able to see the fight tonight. I know Thompson was upset at the stoppage but I haven't heard anything from either fighter yet. Thompson at least deserves another ELite Combate fight against another competitor in the division if not an immediate rematch with Kimbo.

No, Jame Thompson will not get a rematch against Kimbo. Kevin Ferguson's star is rising, Thompson is on a losing streak and with the condition of his ear on top of his glass jaw, it wouldn't surprise me if this was the last high-profile fight he ever gets to compete in.

And if he keeps crying about how the fight was stopped early (even though he was clearly KOed, eyes glassed over) and whatnot, EliteXC will never give him another match again.

NO! EliteXC can't risk Kimbo losing. He was almost done in that fight, it took what was in my opinion a very bad stoppage to keep Kimbo undefeated. Kimbo is the only thing keeping that organization afloat right now.

Should they give James a rematch? sure,why not? Kimbo hit James with all he had and couldn't knock him out. If the fight went the distance and it very well could have (who's to know if James threw a punch before the ref stopped the fight and knocked kimbo out,thats the beauty of fighting,you never know what will happen next and James was clearly robbed of that chance). James would have won on points.

The fight should have been stopped in the first when kimbo tapped and in the second when James dominated from the ground.

Like the announcer said,It was a horrible stoppage." Thats why James threw a punch at the ref,not because he was fighting on instinct as that one announcer said ,but because he was pissed at the paid-off ref for not stopping it when hje should have and then for robbing him of the victory.

To those that feel it should have been stopped because of the ear...get real,its not like his ear drum was busted. All it was,was a blood bubble. When Kimbo busted it,it was like someone popping a zit,it was no big deal.

Who knows,maybe the whole thing was planned out to end that way...nowadays you can't be too sure. I can guarantee you that Bas Rutten will make sure to find an easier opponent next time. maybe even bas himself since he is use to rolling over and biting the pillow.

Re-matches are given not because a fighter is viewed as deserving. Re-matches come about because people want to see it ($$). Their's was not a particularly good match-up. Fans would much rather see Kimbo face another opponent.

Thompson doesn't deserve anything special at all. He hit Kimbo squarely at least a dozen times with fists and elbows on the ground without effect and was otherwise lackluster.

The upside for Thompson is that he got a lot of publicity that may very well attract some interest to his next bout.

To be honest I had never considered the possibility of a re-match between those two. Good question.
