Question:

Do you think this bridesmaid dress would be suitable for women with a stomach?

Two of my bridesmaids are a bit larger xl or maybe xxl probably for this dress... Mostly because of their stomach. They`d be wearing shapewear underneath to smooth things...

Do you think this dress would be ok considering the thick black strap or still not?

Thank you!!!

  1. I think the dress is gorgeous!  Why don't you find where they could go try it on and let them give you their opinions?  My only concern would be that being strapless, they might not feel comfortable with their chest or upper arms (if they are larger there).  Talk to them and see what they think!

  2. Gorgeous dress! Is there a way to cut the lower side seam of the black lace part so it could just "float"? If the stomach is the problem.

I'd ask my bridesmaids what they thought - they'll know better than anyone. As for the strap, it depends on where they carry their weight. If they were the only bridesmaids (which the evidently aren't) and if they'd be uncomfortable with bare shoulders, I'd suggest a fabulous short black jacket (sheer - and maybe bolero length) that could go over it.

    Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

  3. What a beautiful dress! I think the black ought to help slim things down a bit, and with the shapewear I'm sure you'll have a stunning wedding party. Not, of course, as stunning as  you'll probably be walking down the aisle, but that's as it should be.

  4. The dress is gorgeous and looks very slimming, but my opinion doesn't matter as much as your girls'! Ask them to try it on, and see how they feel about the dress and style.

EDIT: I think the second dress would suit the aforementioned body type better, and is feminine and flattering =] Great taste on both counts.

  5. It's not that hem-tape black belt, it's the clinging fabric that will be the problem. It depends on how it looks on them, it's too hard to tell on the model.

---the second dress is much prettier and the fabric seems more forgiving. The color is beautiful---

  6. I think it would definitely show everything. It can be worked with. you say they are very large women. Here's what you do. Have it tailored to so it won't be sucked onto them in that area. This way you won't have to change the style of the dress. They won't feel awkward wearing it. definitely look into adjusting the upper and waist. I sure hope that helps.

  7. the style of the dress is pretty, but if the braidsmaids are more of the heavier side, i'd see if they could redesign for you to make it less of a mermaid style, and more like an empire.

or if your braidsmaids are different sizes, try this:

pick a color of fabric or design, and tell the girls to pick out their own dress. some braidsmaid stores speacilize in mix-matched braidsmaid dresses, and they do look formal and fabulous.

  8. it is a beautiful dress--however I am not sure if it would be the best dress for them.

The dress I originally picked out for my bridesmaids did not look good on any of them, thankfully despite living in different states we were all there on the same day so we corresponded by telephone and the girls tried on dresses they liked and we found one they all loved and that looked great on all of them despite them being a little chunky.

Definitely have your girls try on the dress.

  9. No:

    - it's shiny so it will show every curve (or extra pound)

    - the lace accentuates the middle and will call attention to the stomach

    - strapless - so it will show off shoulder and arm fat

Having said all that...it's your wedding and your bridesmaids either have to wear the dress you picked out or decline to be bridesmaids.

  10. Personally, I don't think either style will work on the XL or XXL women.  There is too much emphasis on the waistline on both these dresses.

    Just a few suggestions:

  11. Both dresses draw attention to the stomach area with the lace on the first one and the bow on the second one.  You are right with the second one in having the ruching around the tummy - it brings the waist in nicely and hides any 'discrepencies', however the bow will just bring the eye there too much.  Try and stay away for shiny materials too - they are not flattering on bigger bodies!  The thick satins are ok if in the right style as they 'hold' you in - and some of the softer materials do not do this - but if the style is right on a softer material (like chiffon) then it should be ok.  Why not try something like these...

  12. i think the black will only make thier tummy's more noticeable :(

  13. hi i think the second style would be far better, it doesnt cling to every curve, and looks to be a much more flattering material! congrats on the wedding!

  14. find something with an Empire waist.  It will definitely cover a stomach.  Or find a retailer that carries different style dresses in the same colour and fabric , and let each girl pick , its more modern to it that way , and it prevents the dress from being shoved in closet and forgotten. Also , if they pick their own style of dress , the larger girls might feel more confident becasue they won't be compared to the others like they would if they all wore the same dress.

  15. OMG beautiful dress! What is the exactly web site for it? The dress is shinny so it might show parts you don't won't to show! See if you make a jacket to go with it!

The color and everything is beautiful!

Can u email me the site addresss?

  16. Both dresses are beautiful. Have them try them on and see which seems to be right
