  1. I'm with Jeff T on this one...

I don't think current science has all the answers but there are some fundamentals e.g. "no free lunch" and the fact that the mechanism of converting water into hydrogen is still secret means we have no way of evaluating the actual economics and hence the commercial viability.

    My guess is that either:

It has an energy input somewhere (e.g. mains electricity) or

It is using a catalyst or variable permeability membranes - these tend to be both rare (hence not commercially viable) and consumable (hence costs are deferred not eliminated).

I rarely buy into conspiracy theories: If this technology is commercially viable, it will come into production and I would buy one... well, if I ever buy a car, I would (I've done without a car for over 4 decades so far...)

  2. No.  Scams don't work on a large scale.  They get revealed and then people stop buying them.

  3. Interesting! You know, a hundred years ago, a couple of guys made cars that ran on steam. They were called Stanley Steamers (no kidding). Jay Leno has one. So, yes, cars can run on water. Whether it will go into production is the question. For now, I'm doing an end run around the oil issue and drive 2 cars that run on natural gas (methane). They are environmentally friendly and super cheap to fill up. I didn't want to go broke paying for gasoline, so I did some research, and wow, there they were. Ford made them in the late 1990's and early 2000's, and may start up again since gasoline has since gone up so much.

  4. Yes, it is possible.  You can do this too via a small experiment.  DO THIS IN A WELL VENTALATED AREA FAR AWAY FROM ANY TYPE OF SPARKS OR HEAT SOURCES.  TRY THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK.  DON"T BE STUPID. SCIENCE CAN BITE BACK WHEN NOT RESPECTED!  Take a small bottle and fill it up with water.  Add some salt to the water.  You'll need a 9 volt battery, 2 wires about 10 inches long, 3 metal washers, a wide rubber band (like what comes with your vegetables), and some string.  Solder one wire to one washer and the other wire to another washer.  One washer will be positive and the other will be negative.  The third washer will be neutral.  Cut your rubber band into the shape of the washer (circular) and poke a small hole thru the middle of it..  Now assemble this in the following manner.  Take one of the washers with the wire and place your rubber band washer on top of it.  Take your neutral washer (no wire attached) and put it on top of the rubber washer.  Place the second rubber washer on top of your neutral washer.  Now place the other washer with the wire attached on top of the second rubber washer.  Now run the string thru this combination of washers and tie a knot.  None of the metal washers should be touching.  You'll probably have to tie a few knots to accomplish this.  Now you have a small fuel cell.  When assemble it will be +/rubber/Neutral/rubber/negative.  Place the fuel cell in the bottle and have it completely submerged in the water.  Attached one end of the wire to the positive terminal on the 9 volt battery and the other wire to the negative terminal on the battery.  You will now see many small bubbles begin to rise.  You are now splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen.  Do not do this for longer than a few seconds because Hydrogen is HIGHLY EXPLOSIVE.  Don't be stupid and try to ignite this in any manner.  You can find out more by conductiong a search on http://www.GoElectricNow.com.

  5. Its a scam.  The man said the water is split into H2 and O (this splitting takes energy, more energy than the H2 will provide, ask any high school science teacher) by an "Energy Generator."  The man said no external energy source is required, just water.  What powers the "Energy Generator."  Can a box create unlimited energy from nothing?  A perpetual motion was been dreamed about for years.  Is this one?  Did the "generator's" inventor find a way to steal the energy brought down from outer space to earth by the people who wear aluminum foil pyramids on their heads?  Is that car in Japan? or the Twilight Zone?

  6. A scientist must approach a problem with a combination of skepticism and wonder.

I'm skeptical that you could run a car on water, because I know about the "law of conservation of energy".

You can't start with water, finish with water, have no other energy source, and power a car.

But if it really works, I'll be the first to buy it.

  7. Sure, once we get over the cultural lag and the silly skeptics don't hinder it too much. Of course you will have to fight the Arab Oil funded big money anti-advertising who block any possible favorable notion of it, It's made a lot of headway in the last few years. It's been well documented it's fully workable for over a century now. Give it a chance.

I believe the demand for new fuel with cut through the lies eventually - especially if we keep asking the kind of questions you pose.

  8. hmmmm. A 16oz. bottle of water costs about a dollar in the store .  128oz. in a gallon. 8 bottles for a gallon. Wow only 8 dollars a gallon.

  9. If the water car is tested (and if it even dares to have a production date, it will be since it breaks a few fundamental laws that we have today as a society, but, hey, the world used to be flat to) and its ok, it will be produce.

  10. maybe you should find it from a real news source.

    not youtube.

(yeah, i saw the Reuters logo.  it's faked.)

oh, and the answers are,  no, and no.

  11. if in fact this is true, and I have seen this and other claims a lot in resent times, then we need to take a wait and see stance.

I do know that in the past, many of the innovations that have increase gas mileage, or replaced fossil fuel have been bought up and buried by the big oil companies.

The first thing that we have to realize is that there are people that are smarter than we are.

We must also realize that there are people that are dumber that we are, and then decide who we are to listen to.

For instance, you can buy water at any grocery store by the gallon, for about a buck, or get it out the tap for about 4 cents a gallon, you do not have to buy 16 oz bottles from  a mini mark at a buck a piece.

  12. No it is impossible...

  13. Quite frankly, I think most of those type of cars won't make it to market. I believe most people, espeacially the ones who care about what we are doing to our planet. Are starting to take a look at DIY plans to accomplish this.

That way, the car you already own can be converted. "makes more sense to me". And I imagine a lot cheaper...

Right, now for me anyway, I'm just looking for ways to save on fuel prices. I stumbled onto this site . And found a free source on some great tips on how to save at the pump.

Some I had no Idea about.

  14. Pigs will fly before the aforementioned event.

  15. Honestly, YES it does work. I have done this to my 96 Saturn and currently get about 50 miles per gallon.

I wrote a blog review about it here:

    http://www.freewebs.com/isitworthmytime/...

It's very simple. You don't change your engine or computer. A quart-size (95O cc) container is placed somewhere under the hood. You fill it with DISTILLED WATER and a little bit of BAKING SODA. The device gets vacuum and electricity (12 Volts) from the engine, and produces HHO gas (Hydrogen+Oxygen). The HHO gas is supplied to the engine's intake manifold or carburetor as shown below.

    Hope this helps.

  16. I find it difficult to dismiss these claims so quickly. Given the current Japanese social/governmental/technoligical level of sophistications and the sharp moral consequences of failure/public disgrace risks,at these levels, it would take a brave scientist/inventor to even propose such a radical departure from mainstream economic practice, in such a public way, if he/she was not absolutely 100% correct,in these claims backed up by an actual, working prototype.
