I don't want to have to carry around pepper spray, that's the thing. I want to feel safe and I'm not sure if we are out of line thinking that we may not be.

The shorter lease idea is a fantastic one!

  1. Guess what? If you have already signed the lease, then you are stuck there. If not, then you don't have to stay there if you are the kind of insensitive snob who thinks they are too good to be around the disavantaged and the poor.  On the other hand, if the location is good...so what if people are doing whatever down the street or whatever? Just get some decent locks and keep your wits about you if you are out and about late. Growing up means having to man up about the harsh realities of life.

  2. if your unsure then maybe just ask for a six month lease to see how it goes.

btw care to explain why you think i am miradna etc?? i explained why in another answer to your question yesterday.

  3. If you were my child, I would be worried about the location.  Living across the street from a park known for drug transactions and a homeless shelter down the street just would not be worth it to me.  I am glad you want your independence but this sounds way to risky

  4. I think you should think it over. Well perhaps you don't care enough if everyday you lost something. In my option i won't take it. Security is still my bet.

  5. as long as it doesn't bother you.

just keep in mind to stay clear of the druggies and don't do anything silly.

With that aside: enjoy your new place! best of luck

  6. I don't think it's that bad.it could be much worse.I'm sure if you've been "sheltered" your whole life and have never been around those kinds of lifestyles you might be super paranoid and it'll be harder for you.. But if not then just chill, be smart, keep your doors locked and try to use the buddy system :o)

..Maybe also keep some pepper spray in your purse. And I think that drug deals go on everywhere..run down neighborhoods, nice neighborhoods, etc. It's just a part of life.

Maybe just sign a shrot lease, like 6 months, and try it out. When the lease is up you can decide on whetehr to stay longer or to move.

  7. I would ask for a 6 month lease to "test the waters". Also before you sign, go knock on a neighbours door and explain you are looking at renting and ask them what the neighbourhood is like
