  1. I try to get all my news from "The Onion"

  2. I would think, both of my wrist are broken. Only if I had a surname of Bush.

  3. Bush cannot sign the Kyoto Protocol any more than he can sign the Declaration of Independence or the Monroe Doctrine - It has already been signed, under the Clinton Administration.  http://www.cnn.com/TECH/science/9811/12/...

George Bush following the lead of Bill Clinton did not send Kyoto to congress for ratification.

The US Senate voted unanimously 95 to 0 against signing the Kyoto Protocol before the conference even began.

The Clinton Administration defied the whishes of The Senate by signing the Kyoto Protocol. Luckily the President does not have the power to bind the United States to a treaty, only congress can do so.

If anyone is still whining about George Bush not signing Kyoto, now is a good time to learn a bit about how our government works, and stop revising history.

  4. Cute...but, seeing as how the story deals with Kyoto here's my take.

The best thing between any country and the Kyoto agreement is distance.  Too many jumped aboard too fast.  Some didn't.

Those that did made a serious mistake.  Kyoto is the extremist version of democracy, otherwise known as socialism.  Too much control, too much money going in the wrong directions and no accountability or much chance of success.  Signing onto Kyoto is not going to help anything, ever.

  5. Do U think that U could live using 50% less energy.Definitely NO!!

  6. We have way to much time on our hands!!!!!!

  7. The sad thing is, it would probably work on him...

    :)

  8. His signature would have about as much meaning as the others who have signed. They were all duped into signing an agreement that they could not live up to.

  9. Simply no... :)

  10. Isn't it funny how Bush got better grades than Al Gore or Kerry?

  11. Why not?  It sounds just as ethical as when Bush was duped (by Cheney and Rove) into the 2nd tax cut.

    [quote]

He says everyone expected Mr. Bush to rubber stamp the plan under discussion: a big new tax cut. But, according to Suskind, the president was perhaps having second thoughts about cutting taxes again, and was uncharacteristically engaged.

“He asks, ‘Haven't we already given money to rich people? This second tax cut's gonna do it again,’” says Suskind.

“He says, ‘Didn’t we already, why are we doing it again?’ Now, his advisers, they say, ‘Well Mr. President, the upper class, they're the entrepreneurs. That's the standard response.’ And the president kind of goes, ‘OK.’ That's their response. And then, he comes back to it again. ‘Well, shouldn't we be giving money to the middle, won't people be able to say, ‘You did it once, and then you did it twice, and what was it good for?’"

But according to the transcript, White House political advisor Karl Rove jumped in.

“Karl Rove is saying to the president, a kind of mantra. ‘Stick to principle. Stick to principle.’ He says it over and over again,” says Suskind. “Don’t waver.”

    [end quote]

It will be nice when we have a president with a little more intellectual curiosity than we've witnessed the past 7.5 years.  Either major candidate will be a huge improvement in this area.
